being a newbee to trikes, would removeing my lower legs shields on the trike disrupt any air flow.. was going to take them off during the summer and put bk on in the fall,,

Just for info I had the same thought before buying my lowers but since putting them on I've never taken them off (and it does get HOT here in sunny Ca). I like them that much so just opening the vents usually gives enough breeze to withstand the elements.
But either way works ENJOY.

To each his own on this question, there are arguments for and against it.

I like the protection from the elements myself and the advantage to my old tour glide is that the lowers were built so that one rammed air at the front cylinder and the other rammed air at the rear. Harley changed that feature along time ago and I cant figure out why?

thanks for the responces..
I have had vents in my lowers before they became common,, my good Bro Hoppe, from Hoppe industries, developed them MANY yrs ago and are pop riveted onto my lowers and have a door that will pop open and close..
the only reason I would take them off was for better airflow for cooling the motor and legs,,

Mine is a 2013, about a week after I bought it I removed the lowers, I think it not only looks better [why hide that beautiful eng. with all that Tupperware] plus when sitting at a traffic light I think you do get a little more air across the cly's. esp. if your ridding two up, JMO ;).

As far as the heat on the leg, I ride with my lower right leg touching the breather, very little heat, but when I move my leg away from the breather I pick up a lot of heat.

:Agree: I took my lowers off and stored them in the H-D luggage for the lowers when I got home from my original new purchase and mine is a 2013 TG with a 120r motor. I not only like the looks better, I want all the air on my motor that I can get. I even turn the front faring side wings out to a point that they are also directing air directly to the motor.

I have had them off for the last year and don't plan to re-install unless I sell!

Would not even think of taking them off. Never had a problem with them on, I just open the vents when it gets close to 90 degrees. To me the Tri Glide looks unfinished with them off.:D

I never even open mine. Would not think of taking them off either. We all ride what we like, just keep riding them.

Took mine off when I 'inherited' the '09 when we bought wife the '11. Replaced them with "Mustache" crash bars. Act as highway pegs. Never put them back on. We take wife's off in the summer and back on in the winter.

I have a 2010 and take them off during the summer. Air flow is great and the wife doesn't complain about heat around her legs. Works out better for all.

Just my opinion, But with out the lowers a T/G looks like something was missing on the Trike.
Besides where would I carry all the little junk that I rarely use.. ie phone charger, air compressor, flashlight, Harley tool kit.. etc... That stuff stays tight and won't rattle around like if I put it in the back..
