RECALLS: M&P Shields & Springfield Armory XD-S

Utilize a Bear Creek Holsters (New Braunfels, TX) IWB crossdraw for my XDs. He works with each Client to modify and customize the holster to accommodate the individual's tastes and preferences. Made a right side IWB with rearward negative clip to holster angle so I could wear left side for cross draw as well as modified the clip location to get just the right carry position and exposure for acquiring. Guess I'm Old school and just prefer leather. Bear Creeks are hand-made molded and provide just right tightness for fit, allows the weapon to wear low and deep into the holster and combines secure holding power as well as smooth draw when needed and wanted. Otherwise it carries majority of the Sidearm in the holster and not upward into my side exposed. Just right amount of handle to grasp and purposefully remove. The kydex styles have too much weapon riding high out of them for my tastes. Having the most bulky half of the pistol sticking out makes for an uncomfortable carry and a more difficult drawing position unless you are tall and long torsoed. They require long fingers to ready-grasp the weapon and depress the lock release as well which slows down the removal and acquisition.

If/when seconds count, that's a big difference maker.
But, that's just me (5' 10") and set in my ways Plus past stupid/hard living makes it more comfortable and quicker for me to cross draw rather than shooting-side draw. Unless (actually prefer) right side thigh holster rig but that's too Tactical and not very "concealed-carry" smart or friendly.

P.s. Apologies to Mr. Wizard and others for the tangent Hijack.

Don't matter if your talking about riding, carrying or other, guys gotta find his own comfort zone that best fits his needs. My new BS holster only run me 36 bucks. Can't beat that price with a big ol stick.

Got email from SA last night. Said they did indeed start sending units back last Friday the 18th. Said that they are upgrading and returning them in order received. Said they got a ton back the first 3-4 days and that group should all be in route home by Nov 1. They will send another email out then to update. Did not address mine individually so was just a blast notice. I assumed that meant mine was not in initial batch and would be after Nov 1 before they got to mine. Since over 185000 weapons involved, figured would be awhile. Hopefully some of you were in the first bunch. Did not mention free mag. But imagine they like surprises and just hedging against maybe running out of freebies and have to send later. Really suck to announce then not be able to follow through. Be a tough PR pickle especially after the recall.
Oh well, we shall see.

You might get it back before turkey day... you might get it back before Christmas... The way they handled this it ain't likely they will see anymore business from me.

Email yesterday said if weapon received on or before Sept 10th, will be shipped back by Thanksgiving. If between Sept 11-30, by Christmas.
I feel just the opposite regarding the Recall/Upgrade. Considering there were over 185,000 affected weapons, I give SA a thumbs UP. Strengthens my loyalty to them, their quality, and their commitment to service.
Crap happens.... They did well in my book when it did.

I've owned three of them and still own two. I put 9 thousand rounds through the 9MM without a hiccup. Sold it to buy the 45 cal tac. May think about trading or selling the tac for something else but that's just a thought. Thought it kind of sad that Springfield hustled everyone to get their guns in (without a fix even found yet ) just so Springfield could keep themselves out of a lawsuit.
