Rear Tires

I am running 235x50 15 tires on my VW trikeI think t6hey are too wide..if the road is wet she will hydroplane in a hart beat 1..the tier is 73 inches around and I would like to keep that..would a 235 x 70 14 be the same circumfrance ? What do you guys suggest ?

Bobby if you are trying to reduce the hydroplaning then you are going the wrong way with the tire size. 70 series tires are WAY wider then the 50 series you have now. Most GL1800 conversions run 65 to 70 series with minimal hydroplaning. I don't know the cure but the wide tire is not it. Good Luck though. I sure would not want that happening to me!!! :xszpv: :xszpv:

HERE is a handy tire size calculator. Fill in what you have and other sizes your considering. It then calculates all relevant information.

Hope this is of some help... ThumbUp

I built 2 VW Trikes years ago and used 235/70/15 size....Uniroyal on the first, Goodyear Eagles on the second...never had any hydroplane issues....ThumbUp

Been around tires my whole life and 70 series are not wider then 50 series. The wide tires with the wrong tread will cause you to hydroplane. Switching to a 70 series with a good tread design will help your problem.

1010 tire also has a good size calculator.
235 don't sound way too wide.

235 is the section width in mm.
50 is the sidewall aspect ratio in %. (As in profile)

You can calculate from there for size comparison.
