Rear tires

So I'm pulling my stock rear Dunlops off the stock rims, because I'm powder coating them. I have 11k on the trike and tires. The tires look brand new. I'm trying to find out if I should just remount the originals or look for a different brand. Anyone switch to a different brand and have better handling or should I just toss the almost new stock ones back on.

I didn't have any problems with the stock Dunlaps. Just bought new ones and bought the stock ones. They wore pretty good, had 43,000 miles on originals. In my mind it was time to replace them.:D

Yes I replaced mine with the goodyear comfort tread tires and its like night and day for the ride..I went with a lower profile tire..60 versus 65..Handles even better on turns..and run them at 32 psi..

I got 22,000 miles on my stock rear tires and they are still in great condition. They have been fine for me. I'll have to see how many miles I do get out of them but I don't see me changing to anything else at this point.

trikermutha, low profile tires AND 32 psi???? Isn't that like riding on solid rubber wheels? :)

I had low profile tires put on my car(big mistake) and it rides very harsh.
I had H-D Anarchy wheels installed on my '12 TG they are larger with lower profile tires and the ride is a bit harder then the smaller stock tires - and - I only have 26 psi in the rear and 32 in the front.

When I traded in the '12 TG it had 20K miles and the rear tires looked brand new. The front tire was replaced though.

Nope not at all..Its only like less that 1/2 inch less of a sidewall than stock..The good year tires absorb a lot of the bumps on the rode plus I have the Legend air suspension on the trike.. In fact I love the way it handles now..Seems like the steering is even more responsive..

A 1/2" can make a big difference in sidewall flex. It must be the Legend shocks that make it OK. :)

I remember once coming back from the dealer after he had put in 40 psi in the rears - it was really rough. :gah:

The shocks were installed first and made a improvement over stock then I install the new goodyears and I was impressed..The comfort treads are made to absorb more of the rode bumps. So the combo of both make it really nice..

Yea I bet 40 pounds would throw you off the bike...LOL
