rear brakes on a Lehman

I have a 1998 GW with a 2004 Lehman kit. Seems the rear brakes are soft I weighted the pedal down__nothing changed. Bled the brakes still the same. Any ideas.... I been thinking of moving the pedal up a notch then you wont press down as far-------- Anything else...Front brakes are great.

When you bled the brakes did you bleed the master cylinder and slave cylinder as well?

You more than likely have air trapped in the front left caliper....

On my 2005 Wing with the Lehman Monarch II, the brakes are hydraulic disc. The drum brakes are the parking brakes.

If you have disc brakes, it is probably a bleeding issue. If they are drum brakes you probably need to manually adjust them. It is very difficult to get the self adjusters to do the job.

Self adjusters on drum brakes ONLY "adjust" when you apply the brakes going backwards. How often do you do that on your trike? I would bet that all GW trike kits are hydraulic front AND rear. Anyone have a drums only trike?

Most of the newer conversions are rear discs, but many of the older conversions have "drum only" rear brakes, me included. I don't know when Lehman changed to rear discs, but mine definitely has drums.

What year is yours? Mine is a 2005. It has drums, but only for the parking brake.

The Wing is a 95, I don't know the year of the conversion. Never been able to find the serial number.

You are talking TWO different kits here.

1 is a 1500 kit & the other is an 1800 kit. So the brakes are probably different.

Much better chance that the 1800 has DISC Brakes on the rear because it is a NEWER design.

The GL1500 kits produced in the late 90's and later have the same brake shoes, wheel cylinders and drums as the Monarch 1. The axles and bearings are also interchangeable.
