How difficult is it to install a rake kit on a trike? I am having trouble finding someone to install the kit I bought from this site. Some shops just don't want to do the job.

1800 easier than 1500
there are threads on here. Folks can guide you if you have mechanical knowledge and have turned some bolts,, you will need inch pound torque and ft lbs torque capability.

you can buy on this site from Bazooka.

Sounds like youre running into the attitude of you didnt buy it from them so they wont install it.If your halfway decent spinning a wrench i would do it yourself and if you run into any issues there is enough experienced people around the forum to help you out.

What brand is the kit. A Honda dealer could install it. Trike shops make money on the kit and installation-maybe there is not enough gravy in the deal for them.
If your are not into the install, for whatever reason...look around some more and find somebody. If you are mechanically inclined- you could do it yourself.....without confidence in your ability, I would avoid doing it.

I think the hardest part of doing the job yourself is finding the tools you'll need. I haven't done a "wing" but I'm pretty certain you need specialized tools like special sockets for the head nuts, etc.

I installed my rake kit last week, I did not have any special tools except for the socket that has to be used to remove the steering adjustment preload nut and a torque wrench. I found a website that gives step by step instructions including pictures for every step. It took me about 6 hours but I didn't rush kept stopping to check each step. It's very straight forward if you take your time and do each step in the order it's listed. Here is a link to the site if its any use. I printed it all off and followed this worked for me.

I sure appreciate the help. I have downloaded the instructions from MotorTrike I did find a Honda dealer in North Carolina that offered to do it for about $300 so may take it to them. However, I am going to study the downloaded directions first to see if I think I would be ok doing it myself.

I forgot to mention, in the pictures it tells you to remove the forks then undo the fork caps. I would loosen the caps before you remove the forks, otherwise you have to secure the forks while you undo the caps.

300 bucks is a good competitive price....and it will save you a giant pain in the butt! I would have it done for sure-that way you know it's done right. Unless you are confident doing the job, you will be second guessing yourself thru the whole procedure.

I haves decided not to do it myself. I will be taking it to Ron Ayers in North Carolina. Again thanks for all the help.

I think if I could get it done for the amount you can I would have paid and had it done aswell. The cost in the uk to have it done was about double that and then some. To buy the kit at a dealer and have it fitted comes to about 2200 of your dollars. I managed to get a kit for about 800 of your dollars from a guy who never had it fitted because of ill health.
