Questions.. Losing oil/funky oil pressure

I think I will just take baby steps on motor size. I know my carb will handle the 1641 and no extra head work is needed. I am only looking for 5 to 10 extra horsepower and believe I can get that out of the 1641. I say that with the thinking mine is down some from the wear. Ga. a little far to travel for me, but might make a good midwinter roadtrip!!

If you have an after market air cleaner without the hose that connects to the oil filler spout, that will cause it to blow oil out of the vent holes behind the pulley. You need that hose connected to keep the pressure correct in the engine.

VWs don't make much oil pressure at idle. I love the weber progressive. It can be jetted for mileage or performance. The main barrel is the same size as the stock 34 pict carb. IIf you keep your foot/hand out of the carb it will get good mpg. I get 25-28 out of my 2000 cc type 4 motor.
