Question for those that have chrome rims.

I just recently installed a set on a friends trike and used bolt in chrome stems. I've been running them on my stock rims for about three years now with no problems

Chrome 45's

I recently installed a set of chrome HD TGU rims on my 2016 TGU. I had a set of take offs from GaryD sent to Sport Chrome to be chromed. It took about 7 weeks to get them back but I am pleased with them. I am also running the FOBO tpms sensors and wanted to switch to metal valve stems anyway. I ended up ordering 3 XtraSeal model 17-561 chrome 45 degree valve stems from a local O"Reilly Auto Store. I had to have the 45 to ensure the FOBO sensor didn't contact the top of the right side caliper. I used the 45's on the rear also and turned them "into" the inside of the rim just like the front one. This gives the stems a little more protection from debris off the road etc. I balanced with DynaBeads and I am pleased with the rims and the stems. It is a lot easier to keep wheels clean! I also put a new Avon Cobra Trike MT90B-16 front tire on while I was doing all of this.

Did you reuse the stock rotor bolts? If you replaced them with chrome ones, where did you get them. Or did you just polish the stock rotor bolts?

When I ordered my new rims from Sport Chrome, I also ordered a set of polished rotors from them, and 2 packs of 5 each new Chrome rotor bolts. Everything I have read says to always use new bolts and HD says that also. The rotors appear to be exactly like the rotors that came on my 2016 TGU. Before I mounted the rotors I cleaned all of the old lok-tite etc out of the threads in the wheel with a 38 cal cleaning brush and blew out the threads with air pressure. I used Blue lok-tite instead of red and torqued them to 22 ft lbs. The service manual says 16-24 ft lbs. I have read some post where people said they had trouble with Chrome bolts staying tight, and others say they had no problem.....just like everything else! LOL. Anyway, I am happy with them and I will keep an eye on the bolts.
