Price for ex. warranty

Got mine from Jim Palmer (608-314-1722)

5 year extended...so 7 year total.

1858.00

I ride a LOT of miles, and sort of hard too. I will not own a Twin Cam without a warranty. Everyone TC I've had, the warranty has more than paid for itself.

Yes and if you are already really sick Obamacare is a great deal also. For everybody else? Not so much. Just sayin. I'm sure Jim Palmer thanks you!? Wheelies covered too in that $1858?

if you feel more comfortable with the insurance go for it. think about what the others are saying and then you choose what you want to do. if you are not a wrench then maybe the insurance would be good for you and it would make you feel better. i have insurance on my house that i pay for every year but what are the chances of it catching on fire , slim , but i still have it and continue to buy it. just my 2 cents

FWIW,
In my case the ESP cost about $1900. I consider this money well spent as my Trike is in the shop now having an entire new primary drive installed except for the chain. Looks like a compensator failure caused all the damage. Price tag for the repair will be about $1700-$1800. New 2014 compensator, new clutch basket, hub, clutch, ring gear and chain adjustor all new bearings. I opted to purchase the new 2014 outer primary with the cast in oil director vs the unproven glued in plastic director with the metal clip. IMO money well spent.

Dunno about the wheelies....hope so.

I have had 5 Twin Cam bikes in the last 12 years...still have two of them.

The three that are gone all had well over $3000 of extended warranty work done on each of them. All three were sold before the extended warranty expired...which means I received back a pro-rated amount of the premium I paid for the ESP's on each of them.

One of the TC bikes I currently have is still under factory warranty...before it expires I will be getting ESP on it. When I purchased this bike (barely used at 3400 miles on the clock) it had a base gasket leak. This was fixed under factory warranty. I have only put 3000 miles on it so far, and hope I never have to use the warranty again...however, I will have it in case I do.

The other TC is my Tri-Glide. It has had over $5000 of warranty work done on it, and it is just at 50K miles right now. I hope there is no more needed, but if there is, it will just make the premium that I paid for the ESP more of a deal for me.

I know I ride harder than most, and some say I should not treat my bikes as hard as I do. My bikes are my only transportation, but I choose this mode of transportation because it is fun. I am not going to curtail my fun because something "might" break. I view the ESP premium as part of the price I pay for my chosen mode of transport.

I know lots of guys that don't ride hard or as many miles that have had their ESP be a plus for them. I also know many that have paid the ESP premium and never used it.

I realize that ESP is insurance. For some it is a good deal (like my experience thus far), for others they pay more premium than they ever use in warranty work. If this were not the case, the insurance company would be out of business. This is the nature of insurance...and that is what the ESP is, insurance.

btw, I also have a Sportster, which has the Evolution engine, not the Twin Cam. I ride it just as hard (or harder) than any of my Twin Cams. I have never bothered to get ESP on them. No need....they don't break nearly as easily as the TC's, and when/if they do, they are much less expensive to repair.
