Back in March I purchased the new Mighty mite Love Jugs (and I love what they have done for Engine Temps.). More on those another time. Shortly after we had good weather I posted about issues with losing read out for no reason. I contacted point of purchase DK customs first these people up to and including Kevin have bent over backwards helping me resolve the problems with the Power Vision. At first they referred me to fuel moto where Kevin gets the units with those fine folks over the phone they tried everything they could to no avail.

At the end of my session with Fuel Moto (and by the way these people also are a standup group trying to help) they gave me a number for Dyno-Jet in western Nevada. Now by this time I'm all but ready to spit nails at anyone who says there is nothing wrong with the PV ya kno... So I call Dyno-Jet and on the other end of the line is a calm intelligent computer geek who also rides, and understands my grief. I relate to him what is happening and to my surprise this guy says calm down can you send it to us and we will check it out. I mailed it the next day being sure I would get a report in a few days that it was defective nope did not to happen. The techs checked it out and sent it back with a clean bill of health. No note no nothing I called again and a little confused was told it is not the PV. Look else where for the problem.

Being a little stubborn I sent PM off to Kevin asking for some of his wisdom as in the beginning check list of things to look for pinched cable,a cable lying to close to another, try cable on top of tank I even purchased a new cable nope nothing worked. Kevin out of goodness of his heart says send to me I will test it on my machines and I will let you know, so packed it up and sent it to Kevin. Now I'm not sure how many miles he used it but had no real anomalies. When I got the PV I went back to square one before weather became nice.

I only briefly post about issues when this started and stopped for the simple reason I did not want to point fingers and not be sure of the problem. As I said I installed Love Jugs in March plug and play to the accessory port under the seat that plug and wiring to the lower dash had been there since October of 09 Manuf. date. I turned off fans at switch no hiccups so changed it. I hard wired the PV to the battery with the appropriate inline fuse. Wa La Power Vision has not hiccupped since. Now these circuits are not beside each other on top or below, there is no reason why when the accessory switch is on it interfered with the signal in the PV. If anyone can shed so light on why please let me know.

I did not post until I was sure beyond a doubt I had resolved, I was so flustrated I typed several threads bad mouthing the Power Vision and Dyno-Jet but I could not send them because I was not certain it was the problem.

Would not ruin or taint what someone else thinks of a product. It was my Machine the is defective or at least that circuit which I will have checked out soon but as long as it is turned off no problems.

I want to let everyone Know Kevin and his staff at DK Customs, the people at Fuel Moto and Dyno-Jet all were great throughout my ordeal. And believe me when the PV screen is not there to monitor it is missed. A special shout out to Kevin for taking the time to evaluate it personally thank you Kevin your support was invaluable to me getting to the bottom of the mystery :Meds: Ride safely Fred

Wow I duno, what I do know is the can bus electrical system and ECM get pretty upset when changes happen, The problems may not rear their ugly heads right away, that is almost always the problem with electrical issues, A bad or weak connection can wreak havoc. Good on PV and Kevin, I keep sayin DK is number 1

Ride that beast and enjoy the peace of mind u have now

Bad connection or switch

It could be one of the connections is loose or the switch itself has a bad set of contacts.

Both will act like a resistor drawing the current down to a level below what the PV needs to operate correctly.

This is not easy to check as you would need to put a meter in the line to find out what the current draw is. You would need to break a connection somewhere to do this. If the right connection is broke you might actually fix the problem by doing it.

Kevin is like having a big brother or a best friend that will drop everything they are doing to help you out.

He has directed me to products before that he doesn't even sell! He just has experience and passion with Harley's and ridding and seems to just have a genuine love for this stuff.

At the age of 64, I've never in my life had a "sales" person help with products purchased like Kevin has done.

Funny thing about the internet. My wife and I watched Kevin and Mary's videos (and photos) which inspired us to get our Tri-Glide and plan on taking trips like them when we retire (soon).

Couldn't be happier with our plans to Trike our way through our "Golden" years.

It sounds like the motors in the Power Mites are introducing a 'ripple current' (an AC component) onto the DC line. That's not a problem for lights, et cetera, but CAN cause trouble in digital circuits. If it's worth the trouble, look at the circuit feeding the fans with an O'scope for ripple.

Hey Fred,

Like I mentioned to you, just sorry I did not think of testing out your PV that way earlier.

I ran it a couple hundred miles on the Sporty, about 150 on the Softail, and around 300 on the TG.

Glad it's working for you now that you have it isolated from that switch...electrical gremlins can drive one batty.

I've known more than a few guys that have sold their bikes/trikes because of electrical issues that they could not/did not want to try and track down.

There is a few different routes to take now. One have switch changed out, Two put a filter on the Mighty mites and or the accessory circuit, Three plug some other gadget to it and see if the PV goes on the fritz again. But now it is on my time so I will get to the very bottom of issue. PV is working as it should planning to do another auto tune run soon just to see if anything has changed. Dyno-jet assured me it would not be needed but you know me. Patients is not my best virtue ya kno... the old DOT Officer pops out now and then... Humm. Lessons learned again things are not always what they seem at first. And think before you past judgement on products and or people. Everything we say or do impacts those around us be it good or bad  just sayin... ride safely Fred
