Hey from Beijing. I was coming in from the airport the other night. We got in late and it was almost midnight as we neared the hotel. Wife and I were in the back seat of an Audi A6, and as we came into the city limits, the driver came right up behind a scooter and some three-wheeled-type vehicle, and neither had so much as a reflector. It was dark, cloudy, smoggy, and rainy. No lights. No reflective clothing. No reflector(s) on the vehicles. No helmets. No nothing.

I pinched a hole in the back seat upholstery as he zoomed up behind these guys. Unreal. I have added a light kit, and my TG lights up like a very bright Christmas tree when I hit the brakes. These guy in China are nuts. No one wears helmets except the police and a handful of ricer racers I have seen. Little kids ride pillion with sandals dragging while playing a handheld game.

There is every imaginable two- and three-wheeled vehicle in the bike lanes and on the roads around the city. I have yet to see even one Harley, however...

There are some amazing "trikes" here that have an aluminum cab and can seat two (Chinese-size) passengers along with the driver inside. Looks like about a 150- or 200-cc engine. All the engines are tiny, and many use electric motors.

I will try to get some shots to post when I get back.

You think you're an experienced triker? Try taking passengers around a crowded urban jungle twelve hours a day, in every type of weather, in one of these.

YIKES!!!!!! Not sure I'd want to experience it from inside that thing!

And then there are scooter rickshaws....in India to be exact. Talking about pinching holes in the seat, you ain't seen nutin' till youse set in one of 'em & been scared outta yr briches while the driver casually oozes between cars, busses & smoking semis, all the while happily chatting on his mobile................
