Have a Wingstuff power outlet to install in front glove box but the missus would like a power outlet available to a pillion rider. Any suggestions? What to buy and where to place the outlet. Would prefer cigarette lighter type and accessible while moving.

I have a GL1800 conversion and have considered one of the rear map pockets or whatever they are called on the trunk. Anyone put one inside? One issue with that pocket is that our cell phones are too large to stick in one of those passenger map pockets.

I have one for the wife to charge her goodies, right under her pouch, behind the my back rest.
Wired it to the battery terminal block with a fuse. Or you can go directly to the battery, just don't forget the fuse.
This way she can charge anything, from the GPS, to her iPhone.
Need photos, just let me know, or PM me with your email.

I won't be using a backrest but that would really be a good location.

I added a duel outlet in the upper trunk and the wifey plugs in there with a three foot cord that runs under the trunk lid behind the passenger backrest. She likes it.

We use 2 on the goldwing. One is in the left storage the other plugs into the battery tender then goes under the seat with the usb plug coming out of the rear portion of the rear seat. Easy access

TADA! I have a battery tender I inherited with the bike and the pigtail connected to the battery is already there.

Did a google on "power outlet that connects to pigtail on battery tender" and came up with this:

http://www.revzilla.com/my-cart?continue_shopping=/motorcycle/battery-tender-usb-charger

Easy to remove and the USB cable is long enough where you can stash the phone in your pocket and connect to battery tender outlet/usb gizmo.

MANY THANK! wg

You may have to do some splicing of wires to get the correct fitting to plug into your pig tail & don't forget your fuse to protect both battery and gadget you are charging.
Also, make sure your charging plug is protected from the elements, because water in a charging system can cause havoc!
Good luck! Please let us know how you make out.
Thanks

Are you sure you just want only a USB charger for your system? Are there any other devises you may want to charge while on the road.
I put in a universal type plug so I could charge everything from an iPhone to GPS, while on the road.
I would think it would be better to carry pig tails to all your devises to charge to a universal plug than not be able to charge at all.
Just a thought.

My bride will only be charging a cell phone or MP3. Big end of USB goes in adapting gizmo and other end in phone or MP3. The cables from the battery tender going to the battery are fused and the connector is water proof; when it rains, doubt the new USB gizmo will be used.

I have a cigarette lighter outlet as of today in my map pocket right next to the audio in cord. I can charge my MP3 player or run a GPS from there. I think we have it covered! Thanks wg

The link takes us to an empty shopping cart. Is this the animal you have to connect to power?
I have one to connect as you are doing. I also have one with 2 female ends, just in case more power is needed.
