Parking

Since Hannigan trikes don't have a parking brake, what is the correct procedure to park?

On the flat I always park my bike in first gear and (when I remember) turn the front wheel to the built-in lock position before removing the key. On a hill the built-in lock position becomes quite important. Be sure to position the bike so that if it pops out of gear and rolls, it will be blocked at the curb.

*i always park mine in first gear. I also carry a couple small wood triangles left over from a project. I live in kentucky and have to park on a hill some times.

Thanks

I agree, parking in first gear should be enough. And the parking on a hill advice, "Be sure to position the bike so that if it pops out of gear and rolls, it will be blocked at the curb," is right on.

I just want to know if trike owners had a different opinion. Thanks for all the comments. ThumbUp

My little buddy!
Too cute.
When I park my scoot, 06 GL 1800 with 12 Roadsmith conversion. I always park and leave it in 1st gear. I will at times leave it locked in reverse but only if it is parked on a level surface. Occasionally at a strange hotel but not normally. I do have a velcro strap on the right grip to use on the front brake but I have only used that when I use a floor jack under the back end.
I go along with the consensus that leaving it in first is the way to go.
Good luck and enjoy the ride.

We leave it in gear EXCEPT when trailering. Rocking back and forth can break the gears. With the engine off there is no oiling for the gears.

Parking help

I have been wondering about this same issue. I am using a Velcro strip right now. But I have ran across this item.

Its called Caps-Lock from Caps Lock Premium Motorcycle Locks.

It goes over the throttle grip and brake lever and locks the brake on and also locks the throttle grip. Right now they are like 20 buck plus shipping. Looks like Amazon and EBay have them.

Just some FYI.

Just something else to worry about....[over thinking]
I just leave it in gear, No fancy stuff for me 'Like Velcro or brake locks.
If its in gear it ain't gonna roll.. Try it out for yourself.. Put your trike in gear and try to push it...

At home over nite I use a rotor lock. Same as when on the road over note but also covered. I also plan on getting a smallish wheel chock as well as leaving on1st gear.
