The latest is Sr. is talking about putting up a building next door to OCC , and move there , some how it's suppost to free him from foreclosure. This show has to be fake , Sr. claims to be a great bussiness man but yet that drunk , crack head , living under a bridge son of his Mikey works for him. Who else in America would hire this bum.

A lot of people misread the note about OCC. They are by no means broke. It states that Paul Tuttle has substantial assets. His car colllection alone is worth millions and his bike collection is probably worth more. He is not paying the mortgage because he wants the bank to renegotiate the payment. Not dumb on there lawyers part, the building is currently worth 4 million less than it was when the built it. Not a whole lot diferent then the current housing market. JR's 20% still has significant value. Wait and see!

Why would anyone pass judgement on Mikey (or anyone else for that matter) who does not know or has not at least met the person. Much like politics i guess, brainwashed by what the media portrays them as. I have actually met and done business with the Tutles and of the three Mikey came accross as the most personable.

I use to really get tied in knots watching the antics going on. Then I finally convinced myself these bikes are something I wanted to watch being built so I had to get past the "B.S."
Now I just ignore the games and watch the builds.

I have been to OCC a few time (60 miles from here ) Bikes are a show thing . To be used as trophies in your place of business show room. or trailer-ed to bike shows. Not to be ridden any length of time or distance. I can think of a lot of bikes I would be willing to pay $60,000 for and not one is a OCC. I know all the Tuttle stories Son in Law and Daughter live down the road, Friend baby sat Mikey. I enjoy Cafe Racers on the HDspeed channel NO BS just a build
Thank you for the post. I've never gotten the honor of seeing those OCC bikes. Always wondered what they really looked like. I don't really care much for the yelling and screaming. I do love creativity though. I've often wondered what the garage builder could do with such wonderful machines LIKE WATERJRTS.. I will say they have a unique business head.

The black widow bike was at Bike Week in Daytona this year. (2011) Nice looking bike but not sure how it rides. I don't like having to lean forward to ride however many of Sr.'s bikes are built this way.
i think paul jr,vinnie and rick could build some awsome bikes together if they got out of the show room gigs. jr. has a good sense of design for the eye and vinnie and rick are really very talented guys that can build about anything. but i think the money there makin on showroom bikes is to much to pass up. (i know i wouldn't pass up some good cash comin my way) i would love to see them three guy just build a real cool street legal bike. rick is awsome metal guy and has way more talent then we will ever see on t.v. good luck to them all.

Amen to that brother! Their so called custom builds are nothing more than frames with assembled drivetrains bolted in them. You can't call a bike a custom build by merely trimming a fender and welding some cute sh!t on a gas tank. God bless em though!!!:Shrug::Shrug:
They seem to subscribe to the theory of "Don't force it, use a bigger hammer". They have millions invested in machinery and from watching several shows have no clue how to use them.... I watched junior holding an end mill in a drill chuck to mill something. That would have got him kicked out of most machine shops if daddy didn't own it or know any better himself.
I've yet to see someone with a torque wrench in their hands.

So I sat through the finale of the Discovery Channel’s latest bike build-off last night and then started bumping around the Internet to read comments fueled by the show. Believe me when I say I’m glad this well-promoted televised event prompted a lot of buzz, because our industry needs a shot in the arm like this.
But from the beginning, I had a bad feeling that Paul Junior would win — not because he had the best bike, but because of what being a “biker” has become. I also knew Jesse James didn’t have a chance. Jessie pulled no punches and he made no excuses. He said what he thought and he cared not a lick what other people thought of him. That kind of honesty is rare in today’s environment. This competition was like pitting Justin Bieber against Led Zeppelin in an American Idol show. Like I said, Jesse never had a chance to win this.
If you’ve paid any attention at all to what I’ve written here over the years, you probably know what I think about the bikes, but I’m gonna tell you anyway. Paul Senior built something that isn’t a motorcycle at all, but at least he was trying to think outside the box — I think. Even though it wasn’t in serious contention, it still made me want to ride it and set stuff on fire.
Jesse’s bike was by far my favorite and yet somehow, lost in all the hoopla, was the sheer numbers of parts he created from scratch. Jesse made a stainless steel springer front end by hand. That alone should have won him the contest. His bike made me want to climb on and thrash the **** out of it. Just watching him build it made me want to get off the couch, head back to the garage and get back to work.
On the other hand, watching Paul Junior build his bike made me want to head out to the kitchen to see if I had any chips. And that wasn’t during the commercial breaks! This was the one opportunity that Junior had to NOT build a theme bike. So what’d he do? That’s right, he built yet another theme bike.
Besides the fact that the bike was in no way whatsoever a practical motorcycle, it also had no soul. Which I guess is what happens when you’re hell bent on using something else for inspiration or a theme.
The fact the PJD bike won just confirms what I have been saying for a while now: Bikers have lost their way. Everybody wants to strut around the rallies and be Billy Badass biker. Yet these same folks are bashing Jesse about his love life all over the social media sites. I wasn’t aware we were supposed to judge them by who they chose to ride on the pillion. Everyone wants to be an outlaw — on paper. In reality they want to stand next to a fat tire “chopper” sporting a helicopter, fire truck or lightning bolt theme, dressed in a leather vest and pretending they’re a one percenter.
Walking around the AMD World Championship show the past few years, I’ve noticed that it’s less about building a motorcycle and more about building a contraption of some sort. Whatever happened to building functional bikes? To me, being a biker is about riding, plain and simple. There’s nothing better than blasting across the countryside with your buddies, sliding through corners, riding wheelies or just cruising down the highway with the sun on your face. I’m sitting here grinning just thinking about it.
Like they say, it’s not the destination, it’s the journey. Most of the custom bikes out there today don’t have an ounce of “journey” in them. Don’t get me wrong, there are still people turning wrenches out there, building badass functional machines. Folks like Roland Sands and Jesse James come to mind, as well as those countless grease monkeys tinkering around in garages across the country. You guys know who you are. So just keep those wrenches spinning, and I’ll see ya on the blacktop. For now, I’m heading out to my garage. I’m pretty sure I have a PBR and an Ironhead that need my attention.
Edit: Unfortunately, the pics of the bikes didn't come thru in the copy 'n paste. Jesse James' bike was typical Old School style. Paul, Jr.'s was a Christmas theme bike with snowflakes, reindeer antlers and candy cane front forks! LOL!

My bad.......Didn't watch the build-off. The Christmas theme bike must have been a joke pic by J&P Cycles in their newsletter. Found this link with the actual bikes...........From the pics in the link, the actual bike by Paul, Jr. is even funnier than the Christmas theme bike.......Kinda looks like a Schwinn on steroids.....:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Irrational Exuberance comes to mind when I see any Orange County Chopper.
OCC created it's own brand and like Madonna, Britney and a host of no talent hacks there was, is and always will be more fluff then substance. There is no doubt in my mind that these bikes will lose their value as time goes on... up to a point that is but, they will never be worth more than they were when they were new.. just like a Pinto wagon, pacer and all of our trikes.

I saw the build off and from the get go I knew PJD would win from the popularity vote, Jesse isn't very popular right now. Had I been choosing I would have chosen Jesse hands down, he built that bugger by hand. He showed a great range of skills, he possesses a skill set that Jr will never have. I would have been smiling from ear to ear if I could have jumped on the bike Jesse made and road the snot out of it.
We're probably on the same page and you no doubt remember seeing Jesse in the bike magazines even before he became famous. He did and obviously still can build and is quite good at it. You're spot on about JJ not being popular these days and that more than likely had a lot to do with the decision (not that it should, but sadly enough, it probably did. "Politics" stink in more than one area, LOL!). If Paul, Jr. was up against just about any other known builder, it's highly unlikely that he would have even been in the ball park.
My passion is motorcycles, plain and simple. Jesse busted his knuckles turning wrenches as he worked his way up the ladder. OCC is little more than a reality show loosely based around bikes.........Just no way to compare the two. Whatta whirled..........:Shrug:

What PJD & OCC build just resembles a motorcycle, they build lobby bikes. Bikes for corporate America to show in their lobby, in my world it has to function 1st and be pretty 2nd. I'd love to see both shops build bikes and then take a 3,000+ mile round trip and see who ends up on a trailer.

That biker build off winner was utterly rediculous-unrideable and goofey! The exhaust came out right in the face of the would be rider, and you would have to be an Ethiopian midget to ride the sumb!tch. At 6'5" and 340 lbs-I would probably have to have that tiny seat surgically removed from my azz if I sat on it!:Trike1::AGGHH:
