Old to bikes, new soon(hopefully)to sidecars

Hello my name is Jim

I've been riding for 30 years and I'm hoping to add a sidecar to my motorcycle soon.

Since I had kids I don't ride as much as I would like. Sometimes I take the twins for rides 1 at a time but we don't go very far since I have to go back and switch passengers.

I would love to take the kids (and myself) on longer rides.

My current bike is a 2003 Harley Superglide and the sidecar I'm most interested in is a DMC M72C.

Right now I'm still researching a few things while I prepare.

I need to find out if I need an additional endorsement on my license in TX and if I can finance the sidecar.

I also need to find out if it's legal to have a person on the back seat while one is in the sidecar.

There is a wider sidecar available but I don't think 2 can legally ride in a side car.

Welcome to TT Jim.

There are a few of us trikers that still have or have had sidecars.

Don't know Texas DMV laws but in NH, as long as the bike has a seat for each of the rider(s), onboard, you're good. Under 18 must have helmet.

If the sidecar has seatbelts for 2 passengers, you should be good to go as well...

Hello James! Welcome to TrikeTalk! Always happy to have another Texas resident onboard.

If you haven’t already done so you might want to check out the Sidecar Forum here on TrikeTalk. Lots of good “hack” info there.

:welcome: To the Trike Talk Family. Is it legal, I don't know , but i have seen a passenger in the side & 1 on the back.

Welcome

Welcome and I just sold my hack and moved on to a triglide. Look at motorvation sidecars they build a nice rig also check freedom sidecars that is an old friend of mine knows tons about sidecars and builds some of the best.
