I came out yesterday morning and had a puddle of oil under the trike. Called the dealer and he said bring it in. Got there at 10:30, it was a 1 hour ride. They got done with it at 6:00 pm. It was the gasket on the transmission. They had to disassemble the tranny. Extended warranty covered it :) They also replaced the compensator under warranty. I have 42,000 miles.

The clutches were warped and worn out. That they charged me for not covered by warranty. They said I would notice a big difference in the clutch. The only difference I notice is I now can not get it into neutral unless I shut the engine off. Guess I will do the adjustment correctly now.

Dave, Might this Help: Pull the clutch lever in and put a little pressure on the shift lever in the direction you need to go to get in to neutral, then blip the throttle a couple grand. Does that take enough load off the clutch to allow the tranny to slip into neutral, or have ya tried that before?

I adjusted the clutch properly and now I can get it in neutral easy. While sitting on the floor I notice another oil leak, this time from under the motor. Gezzzzzzzzzz can they get this bike to stop leaking :( I am beginning to think Lemon law it has had so many leaks!

You'd think they would have noticed that leak while fixing the original leak. It really makes you wonder sometimes... :xzqxz:

Hey Rick, had so many oil leaks on my 09 that any more I don't worry about them. Yeah I really do! Had the oil cooler leaking, had the pan leaking, had the primary bolts leaking, and so on. Tired of all the leaks.:gah:

My list was the oil pan, side tranny side cover, and the stator plug..all leaks are fixed now..You know we should not be getting leaks on these bikes..

I'm surprised by the number of leaks! I had no idea that the quality levels had slipped to this point. Geez! If the MoCo isn't careful, there's going to a lot of "marking their spot" jokes going around.

Is there a possibility that you may have some residual oil from the last repair? Clean the underside of the bike real well and slide some cardboard under her. This should help find where you have an additional leak. After a service, HD washed my bike. after I got home I had an oil drip up front under the oil cooler. I did the same thing and recleaned the area retightened the oil cooler lines. Problem solved.

I did clean the underneath good, now I can see where it is coming from. The split between the engine halves. I have had these leaks fixed before, Oil cooler adapter - 3 times, transmission side gasket - 2 times, engine oil pan - one time, It seems like after they get one fixed another one starts.

I remember the older Harleys marked their territory with oil. We use to put a nut or bolt in the oil puddles and watch the owner try and find where it fell off. :) :)

Hopefully it is just traveling along the case half split from some point above and not coming from it. If it is coming from the case half split its not going to be a pretty item to repair. They'll have to pull the engine down, split the cases, clean them up and reseal them.
