Does it seem like people are getting dumber each day? One of the residents gave personal info to a potential scammer and then was worried. You hang up on jerks like that I told them and you never share personal information. Everyone wonders why I have two secure emails and a crap one. Businesses that I buy from are on the secure ones. The people in the complex spend too much time in la-la land, reading worthless books and watching crap on TV and then they fall victim to scams.

Is society becoming oblivious to scammers? One day one of my neighbors will find their bank account empty and all I can say is I told you to be careful. Its sad when people cannot comprehend a simple message and I see it almost every day.

The lady across the street lost almost everything to a Jamaican lottery scam. When I get a call from these scammers the first thing is never say yes if they ask your name. Secondly, I walk into the kitchen and lay my phone on top of the stove, then I cover it with a upside down skillet. I then grab a wooden and beat the crap out of the bottom of the skillet, strangely they never seem too talkative after that.

The trouble is, nowadays, scammer's can make a webb site look entirely laget, and folks fall for it every day...I myself have trouble deciding what sites are true and what sites r not... and I want to "think" that even at the age of 74, I'm still able to "think" for myself!!

A buddy of mine in Alabama will answer and play stupid. He won't give them any info but ask them a bunch of questions. The questions keep getting dumber and dumber until finally he asks what color underwear they are wearing!

My favorite used to be the Craigs List scammers who wanted to send you asking price for an item and then have a "transport" person pick it up. I would always tell them I worked the midnight shift so I would meet them at some made up address in the south end of Chicago. Never heard back from them.

Anymore I have my phone set so that unless your number is in my contacts it won't ring through. If I receive emails that I don't recognize they are just trashed without opening.

Now that's a good idea! I never thought of that, or I honestly say, never had an idea that you could do that on the cell,

if you are in my contacts, I will answer. if not, off to voicemail. then If they leave a message I will call back if it seems legit ( most of them don't leave messages). I at one time used to answer them in my truck and play the 50 questions game with them ( answer their questions with a question ) but it got boring.
I used to do IT so I am suspicious of all messages and emails.
now I just set the do not disturb so contacts ring through and others don't.
