NOOB Questions.....

Another question....what headset/communications devices are considered the best for helmet usage on the Wing?.....

J&M headsets which also can be bought at Honda Gold Wing Parts & Accessories by WingStuff.com.
Check there prices out with joining there club.
If your going to buy several items it pays you to join there club for cheaper prices.
You do not have to join there club to buy from them but you do get better prices for joining.
BTW I do not work or get anything back from wingstuff, just a satisfied customer..........they treat you right with any returns, etc.

I'll certainly be doing that and soon. Am waiting on the final trike purchase before I jump completely feet first into the accessories. I do want to wait and see exactly which model I end up with.

I am Harley guy and when my wife said she would ride a trike I began shopping. Didn't take long to figure out Goldwing was the best conversion. After much research couldn't decide between Hannigan and CSC. Ultimately chose Hannigan - wheelbase, width, and looks. Essentil to get a great installer.

Two years later I can comment on the mods/additions.

Floorboards/aqua shields - essential if you want to stay dry. Did 2000 miles in five days in May in and out of rain, and becasue of the wonderful aerodynamics of the GW and the floorboards, did not get soaking wet. My HD I would have been waterloggged. .

Factory installed hitch - do now, allows flexibility of trailer or rack later, both of which I added.

I like heel/toe shifter and highway boards - personal preference.

Top of trunk rack - for easy access to rain gear, jackets.

Bell pan - now or later, easy install yourself.

Had J and M headsets, upgraded to edsets. What a difference and Ed is a joy to work with.

Baker or other wings - Haven't put wings on yet and don't think I will - they look ugly and the GW air flow is pretty good.

Didn't do whale spoiler - no function and don't like the looks.

Don't do Hannigan chrome rear wheels - allow look just as shiny and won't rust.

Put on Honda factory fog/running lights - not a tough install and much more professionally built than others. Gives bike great visibility night and day.

Would not do - aux tank, unless you are in West Texas; you'll want to stop every 3 hours anyway, and should to stay alert.

Good luck, good choice.

I initially considered the Harley Tri-Glide. But after a LOT of thought and, especially after they came back with their "lowest" deal, I decided to go back to the GoldWing. MUCH better reliability.

The trailer hitch is getting installed at the shop and it comes with the whale-tail. Figured that, if nothing else, I can figure a way to use it for something.

Floorboards are also standard from the dealer I am going with.

Top trunk rack is a MUST. I had one of those on each of my two GoldWings and one Valkyrie. They REALLY come in handy!!!!!

I am still shopping around for the headsets. Must fit an open-face helmet. Personally I don't care for the full-face....

As for the aux fuel tank. Well, I won't be getting one of those as I have other plans for the space that it would consume.

The dealer I am going through changes the alloy rims to chrome but they are not the Hannigan ones. He has the alloy ones plated I believe. So that should last a while. I'll probably change them out anyway to some sort of custom rims.

Fog lights....I am looking at changing both the headlight AND the fogs over to LED's. That for a couple of reasons. More light and less draw on the electrical system.

As always, with ANY cycle. Rain gear is essential!!!!! Sometimes you just can't wait out the ENTIRE shower under that overpass.....:D

A lot of the things that I want will have to wait until I actually have the new ride in my possession. I am sure that what I have on my list right now will, in all likelihood, change upon it's arrival. I have a rather LARGE and growing list. Better to look now and get the ideas flowing than to wait and get things on a spur of the moment.

Needless to say I am REALLY looking forward to this.

Contact Robert Overby of Overby's Two Wheel Sound (located in KY but also goes to many rallies) at 270-753-4092. There is no individual or business any better, more knowledgable or experienced in communications for bikes and helmets etc. anywhere.
Hope this helps.

The comfort package standard came out on the 09 goldwing; I have an 08 and debated about buying to 09 at the time because it came with the comfort pkg as standard.
