So what did we get for 2017 ? New colors ........... And an engine ...............:gah: Yeah, yeah .........new clutch and brake housings for the hydraulics. Did I miss anything ?
No IRS or better shocks/front suspension

believe the compensator is revised again
Everyone has their own opinion,but I traded my 16 for a 17 and couldn't be happier,new engine yep,lots more torque down low were its needed yep,improved suspension yep,less heat yep,lots less engine noise you betcha,much smoother above 60 oh yeah. Didn't have the 16 all that long put 7800 miles on it in less than 5 months,other than the air cleaner kit everything i changed will be transferred to the 17.So for me it was a good move.Today will be 3 weeks since i got it and just under 1000 miles not to bad considering it rained every day the second week i owned it.

You ride two up. I don't. No heat issues. I carry all of 16 lb of gear. Rain jacket w/bottoms weigh next to nothing. Don't pull a trailer. I would have to buy new bars again and yes, I'd loose the high flow intake. If you are happy, that is all that counts for you. Me, I'll wait.
I wrote a check for my trike so it is paid for.
I do not want to eat the depreciation. Oh yeah, I'd have to give up the boom audio speakers in the front.
Install/remove requires removing the fairing. I do not want to jack with that ever again.

Improved suspension ? The rear shocks are still the same. Front on the trikes didn't change either I've been told. The beefed up suspension on the front is only the Limited and Limited Low according to my service department mgr.
90 percent of my riding on the trike is two up and i was told they changed the valving in the front,maybe it just seems smoother,if you are happy with your ride then you would be foolish to trade up.

Only it doesn't say squat about the suspension. First click tab is the MoCo blurb about the new engine. Second one is also about the new engine. Third one is about the infotainment center. Fourth one is about the wide set handlebar. Fifth one tell you about how cool looking the inner fairing gauges are.

In fact, it is only in the Ultra Classic Limited and Limited Low sections on control does the MoCo make mention of the all new dual bending valve front suspension and adjustable emulsion rear shocks. Which, we do not get on the trike. My money is on the only thing the '17 Tri Glide got was a higher price, the M8 and the related handlebar clutch/brake reservoirs that made it to the entire touring line. And some new paint colors. ymmv.

HD does not halfto change anything but the blings. They have no competition as of now !
Well, two weeks and 800 miles in, and I don't know for sure yet if they made suspension changes, but I will say that my new '17 TG is smoother and more responsive handling than my '14 that I had already improved with the DK comfort lift, either 1 or 2 up. It has made a believer out of me!

Really Really want to trade but....
I'd love to trade to a '17 from my '13 but I just can't pull the pin yet. I have the '13 so set up for me right now that it'd take an extra $15k (or more) to put the '17 there (including a new triple tree on the '13).So - probably give it another year or two so they can get the bugs out of the M8 & see if they come out with anything special for the 10-year anniversary of the Tri-Glide in '19.

Hard to tell....
Well, I bought my new 2016 the last of February 2016. It is paid for and so far I have spent a little over $7.000.00 getting it like I want it. I saved myself $1,650.00 on labor charges by doing all of the work myself. I am happy with the Trike and can in no way justify trading at this time. Yes, I could do it, but I am not. I don't have any problem with the 17 or the new engine and I hope it works out to be a great combination. Given the kind of care I give my bikes and cars, I should be able to get a decent price (sale or trade) on my 2016 in about 2 to 3 years. The biggest reason I wouldn't make the move now.......I don't want to spend all the time changing out everything again! I have a lower back problem and getting up, down and under this thing is getting harder and harder. Anyway, as far as comparing the 16 and the 17, if you just use the HD comparison page it shows very little differences.
However, looking at the 2017 Trike features etc you get this under control:

Rear shocks still air adjustable. I know from my butt dyno that the engine has more torque and the front end absorbs bumps better. I went from a 14 to a 17.

Ya, I was really close to trading my 2011 but, they did not improve the rear on the 2017 so I kept mine and installed a set of Pro-Action shocks on the rear. Very glad I did. The ride is way better !!! :clapping:

Are you on the Touring, Limited or Limited Low section ? 'Cause it sure isn't mentioned any where in the trike section under controls. Steering Head and Front Forks

'17 Tri-Glide Improvements
I traded a low mileage '16 T-G for a new '17 based partially on the salesman's claims of all the improvements. I was looking forward to experiencing a better ride due to the suspension upgrades and improved braking. When I found out that about the only upgrade was the M8 motor, the salesman (and his sales manager) didn't believe me. A call to H-D's customer service line confirmed that there were no suspension or brake upgrades to the '17 T-G. Further, they stated that the TriGlide isn't included in their "Touring Motorcycle" category. It is in it's own "Trike" category along with the Freewheeler. So, if you read something about improvements to the Harley-Davidson "touring" motorcycles, don't assume that those improvements include the TriGlide.
The new motor has impressed me enough though that I don't really care about the so-called suspension upgrades anymore. No regrets about trading in my '16.
