I wasn't going to trade my 14. I was not interested in a 17. I was happy with my 14. Got it just like I wanted it. Had no interest in a 17. My riding buddy asked if I would go to Thunder Tower HD to look at new bikes with him. My salesman Shon Culpepper had already sent me pics of a new trike. I waited as my buddy looked at a Limited. Then he talked numbers with Shon. I had bought 3 bikes from Shon and Thundertower HD and sent about 6 friends to buy (all bought) .

Shon made me an offer I could not refuse. Said the owner said he wanted me on a new trike and do whatever it took. Gave me retail, not trade in for my trike and cut MSRP. Let's just say I pad about what I would have for a 15 used trike for a shiny new Mysterious Red/Velocity Red M8 TG. called the wife and she said, "I knew you would come back with one. If it makes you happy, I am good with it." Gotta love a woman like that.

Bottom line , I pick it up this afternoon. Having a few things added including flashing the passing lights. I will post pics as soon as I get it home .

If you are in the market for a bike, new or not, go see Shon Culpepper at Thundertower in Columbia SC. Dude is awesome !

Thats why i haven't been to a dealer to look at the 17's... Just too comfortable with my 11...My Wife says do it' Its only money...I'm thinking could that be a trick on her part?:cxtv:....

Good for you on the 17.
myself, I watch and listen to what the new ones offer and then try
too copy it on my 2010. Spending alittle at a time on add ons etc; keeps me paid up'. It's like having a old Hot Rod but has been completely
Remodled and running like the new cars.................:Coffee:

Pictures Steve, we need pictures!!! Oh wait, you're probably out riding, maybe tomorrow, LOL.

Congrats. Keep us informed. If my tri was 3 yrs old I would prolly make the jump. Not enough change for me to take the hit on a 6 mo old '16.

Update

Actually I have an update. No riding tomorrow. Rode home from the dealership fo,lowing break in protocol. First 50 miles not over 3k , no lugging. Changing gears and speeds. When eitms kicked in, I thought it was going to shake out of the frame. Stopped at 60 miles to make a call and cut the engine off. Sat a few minutes. Cranked up and took off, bike felt sluggish and I thought I smelled oil. Rode 8 more miles definitely smelling oil.

Got into the garage and brushed my hand against the right fender. Felt slick, oily. Looked at the backrest and it was oil spotted. Looked on therightside above what we called the nose on e on an evo, where the pushrods tubes met the the cases and oil was flowing out.

Crap ! Called the sales guy and he checked with service. THey haven't had an issue .ike this. So now they are coming to get my trike tomorrow. Not worried as it is under warranty at less than 70 miles and the dealer is a stand up guy. He will do what he has to do to make it right. :xzqxz:

Oh well it was fun while it lasted

Steve

Now this truly sucks .........:gah:

+1:AGGHH:

Hope it is a minor issue. One Harley dealer I trade with said they had a 2017 M8 come in and a seal had been crimped during assembly causing a huge oil leak. In that case, they had her up and running in no time with no problems to the bike.

Dagnabit, that really does suck Steve, hopefully everything will get taken care of and we'll see some pics soon.

We must live in parallel universes... I had almost the exact same thing happen to me last weekend at Space Coast HD in Palm Bay FL. I stopped in to book my 50K service on my '14 TG; I had it looking and running exactly the way I wanted. While waiting for the service guys to price it out and see where I would fit in their schedule, I walked over and looked at one of the dozen '17 trikes they had on their showroom floor. Salesman Devin came over and asked if he could help with any info. Told him no, just looking while waiting, but he was gently persistent. After my finance manger wife Sandi (it was her idea to get the '14 in the first place) got involved, it was all over! Signed the papers, rode it home, and back the next weekend to get the CB moved over from the '14 and new black reach bars and tour pack rack installed as part of the deal. 700 miles later and I am VERY happy.

Bummer that you had the oil leak problem, glad they got it squared quickly for you.

Congrats on having the guts to say no like I did! And Thanks to Devin and Scott at Space Coast HD for working to make sure this was a deal!

Ride safe!

Oh, I guess I will have to edit my sig line!

Ngrats on on your bike Mark.

And it is good to hear that there are at least two great dealers. Never understood the stealer attitude. Nobody makes folks go to the dealership. Ride safe and enjoy that trike

Just getting used to my 16 after 6000 miles since July. No 17 for me. Was cheaper to change the pulley & now everything is fine.

I stopped in Friday before labor day for a filter for my 14 Freewheeler, labor day I rode my M8 Freewheeler home, the wife says NO more new bikes, I put her on the title this time

Pulled the trigger on a '17 billet silver freewheeler. Traded a '16 freewheeler and yes I took a loss but ur always gonna take loss. Depreciation is Part of trading and buying anything new. I'm happy with it and that's all that should matter anyway.
