Newbie Question

Please pull the trigger...

I guess I am ready to pull the trigger on a Tri Glide dam near lost the limited in the parking lot, bad balance with the wife on. I like the 17 but the price on the 16 is an eye opener. Like the 17 much better. Thanks for the help Doc
It's time before you break a leg or hurt you're Honey. just sayin' :Shrug:please don't hurt yourself. fred

Not sure if the dealers in your neck of the woods are doing the same. Most in the D-FW area are doing 0% for 60 months on all '16 models. Or, full retail for the trade. I simply shopped my '15 Limited Low till I found a dealer that gave me both retail for my trade and 0% for 60. Love it. I'm using their money for free.

You will like the trike just remember push pull on steering lean to inside. You will no longer be leaning or counter steering in a curve like on a two wheeler. You also will be more lane centered when riding and always remember there is a fender beside you like when pulling into a gas station pump. All this came to me real easy has been harder for others. Take your time and in no time at all you will be good to go.

By no means trying to steer you to a 17 but my 17 Tri Glide in stock configuration hands down out performed my 2015 also the wife loves it. I weigh in at 220 and she is about 160 we run 22 psi in rear tires and 40psi in the stock rears shocks. This gives a good Ride two up and add a few psi if needed loaded up. There are rear shock options out there to improve this as well as lift kits. I tried the Comfort Lift and on my trike the swing arm hit my exhaust (this does not happen on every 17 trike but did on mine). Kevin at DK is working on something for me to help here. I really like the Comfort Lift on our 2015 really improves the ride and feel on the steering.

Either way way you will love the trike be it a 16 model or a 17. Only you can decide what's right for you. I have ridden my hole adult life and I am now 52 yrs old. I started trike riding at 49. I wish I had done it years sooner even before my knee surgery at 48.

Best of luck here & Ride Safe, :)

Bill said it best.

As Bill said, just take your time getting to know the trike and the way it handles. Find a deserted parking lot to practice on. That is how I got a close friend started after he found he could no longer handle 2 wheels because of medical issues. I chowed down on pizza and water while he spent the better part of 2 hours getting familiar with how it handles. He's ridding the heck out of the one he bought.šŸ˜€

I had the dealership install the comfort lift on mine before I took delivery. The trike handles corners noticeably better! Because I only had a few hours of travel on 2 separate days before the snow hit (can you say road salt ?), I didn't get much of a chance to compare before and after, but definitely better.

Thank You all for the replies, I still do not have the Tri Glide, I want the 17 have more hours on it and like it a lot, Better than the 16 anyway feels much stronger and smooth, I did get a price from Space Coast, but no others yet Fair out the door price no trade. I dropped my Limited Monday backing out of my driveway, Thank God no damage and a friend helped me lift it back up. I am in the process of buying a new home and selling mine I have a buyer. Will be on a Tri 17 after that , I will be 68 next month and I will have it for my birthday. Thank You All for the Help. Doc

Glad there was no damage and you weren't hurt. I have all weather roads to navigate. Knee and leg issues are a real problem. I can empathise. That is why I'm now on a trike. I can still ride on two for short periods but that is all. Not worth having two in the garage imho.

Pulled the Trigger

Walked into the Dealer yesterday and there was the Tri Glide I wanted, 2017 Silver and Black. Got a good trade and 3 hrs later it was mine. We put 80 miles on it yesterday and I have a lot to learn , really need to slow down on corners. Thanks to all that post here really have learned alot. Thanks Doc
