Joe here from Racine, Wis. Haven't got one yet but will very soon. Have a Honda VTX 1800R/S with 49+++mi. and we decided to trike it with a Road Smith. Any info before I by and install would be appreciated. Plan to do the install myself. Have been in Machine Repair for 40 years. All hints and tips are welcome.
Thanks for letting me jump into your forum. :)

Good morning Joe, and a big welcome to TrikeTalk. You'll find there are several on here who have installed their own kits, so you can ask away --- help (or confusion) is sure to result. Either way, you have found a whole new group of friends who will be hovering over their screens watching for pictures of your progress!

Welcome joe personally i think you maid a great decision with the trike shop co. I will have one one day. They couldnt do my current ride but the next one yep <br />
welcome to the board and triking

Welcome, read through the board there are several post of building ur own trike. We have some very talened people on here and some very nice people. So jump right in and enjoy. Keep us posted on ur build, and if U have not noticed yet "We love pictures"

Take your time read the instructions and call Trike Shop if it looks wrong or you think you need help. That is what I was told helped most home builders. That is going to make a good looking trike . We have a few Honda VTX 1800 and 1300's on here , not sure if any are Trike Shop. I know the 1800 Wing goes like a scalded dog and I bet JJ's does too. So your 1800 should be the same . After the build take it slow at first. Keep us posted and pictures of it are also welcome.

Hey joe its me again make sure you get the triple trees for it ez steer. Otherwise you will wonder what went wrong. I have ridden 2 vtx 1800 one with and one without. And you want to be the one with its a nice package. Do it all at once save the hate and discontent for something else.
As you well know after 49k on that mule it runs like a champ so nothing will change in that dept. Just the ride and comfort. Oh i also forgot that gap on your face will be considerbly larger
take your time and enjoy the ride keep your feet up!!!!

Hi Joe, welcome,
I can't really help with info on your trike build, but I love looking at pictures.:)
P.S. If you need any help with any welding......just contact Nana.........:D

Probably be ordering soon. Anyone know if you order from out of your state do you still pay the taxes? Plan on going to get the kit and bring it home. Any suggestions?

I ordered a DFT kit back in 2000, I live in Illinois and ordered it from Iowa and saved the 800.00 in taxes. Weather that was legal, Im not sure but thats how it worked out.

welcome aboard. good luck on the build. I did a Champion and am very pleased. The roadsmith is suppose to be a great conversion..

Roadsmith is a gook kit, and one of the few that will sell to individuals to install themselves. The Trike Shop folks, Dick and Helen (the founders of the business) in Florida or son Doug and crew at the main office in the Twin Cities ar Good People and will be very helpful.
