Hi Everyone,

I am new to the Trike Talk forum. I was wondering if there are posts on Custom V8 Trikes or Rat Trikes. I have a Custom V8 Rat Trike with a Chevy 350, 700 R4 Automatic Overdrive Trans with a Lincoln Seville Limited Slip Independent Disc Brake Rear-end. I also used a Yamaha 1200 Royal Star frontend. I live close to Tulsa OK and have been riding my Trike for almost three years. A couple of friends and I who also have custom V8 Trikes took a run last October and rode 7000 miles and went through 22 states just to get out of the house and have some fun. It was by accident I ran across Trike Talk today or I would have already joined a couple of years ago. I use to restore all kinds of old card and then got into restoring the early Ford Falcons for a while when I saw a custom v8 Trike and knew right then I had to have one, thus here I am a triker . Anyways I thought I would say Hi and look forward to all the Trike Talk.

Welcome aboard Sam. Glad you joined us. Nice trike. What kind of Gas mileage did you average?

Thanks Everyone,

I get close to 24 mpg running 75 down the highway and 20 in town consistant. I have a 750 Edlebrock carb. My power range on my cam is 2500 to 5500 and at 72 mph I am running 2400 rpms just under the get up and haul butt stage lol. The 700 R4 overdrive is the life saver on the gas mileage. One of my friends uses the 350 turbo trans and he gets 14 to 17 with his trike but then again he likes holding the throddle down where ever he goes too.

Thanks, I checked out and test drove all the trikes on the market comparing prices and so forth and I just wasn't satisfied with what was out there. The trikes either cost way to much in my opinion or did not ride like I thought they should. I guess that is because I use to drag race and got use to having some real power. I met the man who builds these custom trikes and after going over what I wanted in a trike I now have the ride of a Cadilac and the power (I think I need) for less than half the cost I was about to pay out for a trike. With a custom build I can make anything I want on my trike without having to pay the prices the dealers ask for. I think for me it is the build and kinowing what I have and being able to go to any parts store if I ever need something.

Welcome to Trike Talk BigSam! That is a neat Trike that you have. It looks like you did it the right way when you selected it and now you can say that "with authority" seeing as how you have been riding it for three years. Welcome and good luck, I'm sure you will find that you are in good company.

Thanks I have been readng many of the post here in Trike Talk and I already like this forum for the simple fact you welcome all trikes not just the company brand names. I was telling my friends about Trike Talk and they are going to checking you out as well. We all have one thing in common and this is we are all trikers young and old no matter how they are built. I like them all and have met many people who have trikes. Since I have been riding my Rat Trike I have had my picture taken more than Elvis :). I was asked one time what I called what I was riding and after a few moments I told the lady "I call it fun". There is no doubt trikers know how to have fun.

AMEN on your last sentence there, BigSam! And you are right --- that is what TrikeTalk.com is all about :D

I found a picture of the last shulls I put on my trike. I made the coffins and polished them out the put skulls on them and mounted them over the motor. I also put studs on the seat changed the headers and put black ones on with the chrome tips to give the trike a different look. I now have over 250 shulls on the trike my goal is a 1000. I'm getting there. Not this is fun but riding is so much better :).
