New Texas Triker

FNG Post: Traded in my old Ironhead and a Yamaha RoadStar last month (kept the Enfield). That and a few hundred signatures later, I'm sharing a new 2019 Freewheeler with the bank. Added a windshield, luggage rack, bumper and an oil cooler shield, but still pretty much stock. Just finished the 500 mile break-in. Had an old Honda police trike years ago, but never rode it much.

The Freewheeler handles much better. Very rough ride though, thinking I might need a suspension upgrade to smooth things enough for my wife to ride comfortably behind me. Found the Forum while searching for info on mud flaps - I'm in the country with 1/2 mile of dirt & gravel before I hit the 2-lane blacktop - and that's really sketchy & full of potholes. On the Forum for advise & ideas...

Hey Walt! Welcome to TrikeTalk from the TEXAS hill country - Kerrville!

Lots of happy Freewheeler owners on this site.

Come on down to Kerrville this April! We are holding the annual TrikeTalk get-together.

See the thread entitled KERRVILLE 2020.

We ride, eat, laugh, and do it all over again from April 19-23. No registration fees, no prizes to be had...just one heck of a good time!

Hi Walt and welcome to the forums from Florida. First thing to check is your tire pressures, 36 in the front and drop down to 22-23# in the rear, a world of difference. You'll have to play with the shock preset under the seat, a couple of clicks at a time to find the sweet spot, sometimes coming from the factory they're set on zero!

Welcome, Walt, from East Texas. Hard ride till you reduce rear air pressure to 22-24#. Easiest, cheapest way to smooth it out. Might wear some off outside edges if you're like me, though...:clapping:
