Hello i am Andy, im from dayton ohio, i inherited my trike from my mom it was my stepfathers, sadly he passed away almost 3 years ago of Alzheimer's related illnesses, my mom had his trike in the garage its a 1968 vw trike dual port 1600 engine with a stinger body style(i believe) and what i have been told is a bowtie front end, I helped my stepdad many years work on his trike he wasn't very frugal (lol he was a cheapskate lol) he had built the trike him and some friends years ago.
i helped him where i could you know do the basic things change oil minor upkeep things like that never took too much interest until my mom tried to give me the trike after his passing (it sat in the garage covered up for about 4 years at this time) instead i offered to buy it from her as his family was upset about her giving it to me, they rarely had anything to do with him let alone help do anything with his trike, but when he passed they thought they were entitled to it.
moms reasoning was that i was always helping him and i actually knew more about it than I actually realized, so who better to have it than the person who helped him keep it running, that said, i bought it from her for a decent price i actually got it up and running road worthy over the winter months i upgraded the rear brakes from drum to disk, oil change new plugs wires etc. put a whole new wiring system ie.
Installed a whole harness to the archaic 1970s wire job that was originally on it, new tires new headlights tail lights turn signals whole 9 yards doing a little research and came across this forum signed up to meet all you nice trike enthusiasts look forward to browsing articles and possibly getting advice and maybe giving some advice with what little knowledge i do have.
Nice to meet you all. And just saying hello and telling a little about my journey into this world. I absolutely love riding my trike and do so as much as I possibly can.
