I don't have a trike yet. I am moving from 2 wheels to 3 and have been looking at trikes and sidecar rigs. Mostly focused on a trike right now, either Harley (but not their Tri Glide) or a Gold Wing.

I have looked through some of the forums and there is a wealth of information here.

Welcome to TrikeTalk Bruce! Your covering almost all the bases in your searching. I am biased towards Goldwings trikes especially because of the independent rear suspension. However, there are aftermarket conversion kits for transforming 2 wheeled Harleys that will accomplish the same thing. There is also IRS kits available to change out the rear ends on the Harley factory trikes.

My biggest suggestion is to actually test drive the various ones you are interested in. It will be pretty difficult to decide without doing that.

Unfortunately it sounds like you may need to widen your search area then. An option in your case, you might have to consider flying out and then driving it home. My last trike although I didn't fly out, I did drive my bike about 670 miles to shop, had conversion done and then drove my new to me trike home.

Welcome to Trike Talk Bruce! You definitely came to the right place to brush up on trikes! As has been said, test ride as many as you can.

Welcome from NW NJ! My brother and I converted our Goldwings with the CSC conversion. I test rode a Harley for an entire day and it just doesn’t equal the Goldwing trike.

I like Harleys and rode them for about 16 years or more then switched to BMW for more horsepower and lighter bike. Yes no comparison between Harley and Gold Wing --- more horsepower, torque & electronic shiny things on GW.

Deplorable

Winters are getting harder and harder on this old body and I keep threatening to head south permanently - we do take an occasional warm weather retreat but if we were to move permanently, it would have to be somewhere where we would still get visits from turkeys, fox, elk, bear, deer & other smaller creatures. I don't know where that would be.
