Welcome. I am also pretty new here . I just purchased a new to me 2015 freewheeler and I am learning also . I removed the detachable H/D windshield and installed a batwing fairing and added a engine guard and lowers . I also did the rear lift and the gas tank lift . I installed a radio in the batwing also . Lots to learn. I came from a 2006 glide classic that we put 66K on and I bought it new. I really need some good weather to actually feel this thing out !

I already know I am going to need a taller windshield and I am looking. I ride with an open face helmet and the wind kills my old eyes even with glasses . The wife on a trip to Tennessee last summer decided we should try a trike and here we are :) . She said were soon to be 74 and if we are going to ride into our 80's we need a trike !

It is. I've had Sportsters, a V-Rod and a Road King plus an adventure bike over the last 25 years but it's my first trike. I really wasn't in the market to buy one but I got this unbelievable deal: a 2017 Freewheeler with 650 miles for $3,300. Yes it's true. Poor gal who sold it to me was going through a divorce and simply wanted to get rid of the trike and start a new life. I'm 63 years old but really wasn't psychologically ready for a trike. Looks like I am now!

One great piece of advise that many will tell you is before trying to take it on the road, find a large vacant parking lot and practice making turns. You will want to try leaning as you have always done on 2 wheel motorcycles and then wonder why the bike isn't turning. You will get in less trouble practicing here. There will be no more counter steering, you will need to physically turn the handlebars in the direction you want to go. What also helps is if you are turning right, lock your left arm out on left side handlebar and pull with right arm. Reverse it for left turns, lock your right arm straight out and pull with left arm.

Sounds good. BTW, what part of SE Wisconsin are you from? I grew up in Kenosha.

I'm in Silver Lake, tucked in right off Hwy 50 between Lake Geneva and Pleasant Prairie. I've been here about 3 years now. Before that I lived in Chicago in far Southside neighborhood of Beverly and then Mt Greenwood.
