Welcome to the group.

Noticed you mentioned building a VW trike. Word of advise. Go down to the DPS and your local tax office and check out the restrictions. Have a couple friends up here in the Panhandle that ran into all kinds of issues before the could license their trikes. One had to take the frame to Lubbock to have all welds X-ray'd and Magnafluxed.

Probably won’t try to build one for those reasons. Have found a few projects that may be worthy opponents. Thanks for the welcome. Retired FD here and currently proud Texas Oilfield Trash.....lol. If you are one you will understand.

Hey Big D... I live in the Permian Basin - right now the most prolific oil field in the United States. You must be riding the Barnett Shale play in that north Texas area. They have discovered a HUGE field to our west and several of the major oil companies are moving back to Midland after an exodus to Houston back in the 80’s. Add to that new recovery techniques and horizontal drilling and this area cannot boom fast enough. There are a couple of retired oil field folks on TrikeTalk - they chime in occasionally. Hang in there with us - this site can be pretty fun.. maybe you’ll find a nice Tri-Glide or Gold Wing trike that’s ready to roll so you don’t waste any time getting to enjoy it.

Really! What did you find to live in? A friend of mine was renting an apartment for $1800/month. They announced last month the rent was going to $3000.00/month. Through word-of-mouth she accidentally found a patio home to purchase. Midland is FAMOUS for gouging during these booms.

Let me know if ya’ll would like to meet for a coffee.

Take care out there - this boom traffic is as crazy as the prices are!
