New Cobra RPT Freewheeler specific Trike mufflers

I do like the look, wonder how they sound?

I heard the Cobra 4" RPT touring mufflers on a 2014 Street Glide on the You Tube sound clip below and they did not sound to bad at all to me. It is really kinda hard to tell true sound on Video sometimes . Not a lot of information out there yet on these. Cobra did tell me by phone the the RPT Freewheeler specific mufflers were shipping out to dealers already.

My local dealer has a demo FW on their floor and it has a pair of regular length Screaming Eagle mufflers installed. Maybe it's just me but I've never been really impressed with the sound of SE mufflers but these units sounded great and the tone was really deep, almost like a pair of CFR's.
Some may not like the look of the longer mufflers on a FW but I definitely dig it.

Clint I have heard some SE mufflers that sound nice as well.

I don't mind the extra length on the mufflers either on the Trike as long as there not to long like with super long end caps. Even better with the Harley chrome Trike bumper installed.

I do think keeping the mufflers shorter like the Freewheeler factory ones do have a benefit. I think the shorter ones will allow going into driveways and up sharp grades easier without any scraping issues compared to the longer mufflers.

So for me when we get our Freewheeler I will more than likely lean towards the shorter mufflers myself.

I took my wife to the dealer today,to look over and for her to sit on it. One of her first observations was how low the trike was. I love the low ride height but with that comes ground clearance concerns. Since the TriGlide and Free Wheeler share the same chassis, has anyone thought about installing a TG lift kit?

My Cobra right muffler keeps sliding out 2"-3". How can I get it to stay put? Extra Torquing everything isn't helping.

FYI, I just posted the same thing on another thread, then saw this Cobra thread and thought I would double it up.

Make sure the clamp is even with the very end of the muffler not inward towards the muffler body. Also make sure all the slits or crimp cuts in the muffler end is covered by the solid part of clamp band not leaving any slits open to the open part of the clamp. Then tighten the clamp down in place making sure all this stays correct. If any of these things are not done the muffler can slip (This information was given to me by D&D racing Exhaust quite a few years ago and I have done my Muffler installs that way every since) Also make sure there is no lube of any kind on the surfaces and all is dry.

If the muffler still slips try a new clamp and follow the procedure mentioned again. If the Muffler still slips the inside diameter of the mufflers inlet may be to big or oversized. That is not normally the case though with a quality built muffler.

Best Of Luck & Ride Safe, :)

If they have been removed several times you might need to replace the clamps. I keep em on hand just in case.
The clamp needs to be at the cut at the end of the muffler to hold good.

If that doesn't work use a coke can and cut it to fit inside the muffler and over the exhaust pipe. Had to do that a few times to with after market mufflers.

They do look good but $650, I don't think so.

I stopped by the dealer and got me an oem clamp. The muffler hasn't moved and it's been about 500 miles!

The clamps that come with the Cobra mufflers are thin compared to oem. The left muffler has the Cobra clamp and hasn't moved. It just couldn't hold the right one in. The oem clamp wouldn't keep it in either because the dealer told me the clamps are good for only one use.

On a side note, I need to try and get one of the bolts replaced that go around the end of the muffler. I think there are 6 or so galvanized bolts. One of mine is completely rusted and it sticks out like a sore thumb.*
