Got the up dated driveshaft but needing to change the front u joint out. Any info or part number for it. Mine has the external snap rings with a grease zert in the cap, the ones I'm looking at shows c clip install on the inside with the grease zert in the cross section.

thanks, David

Doesn't the updated MT shaft have it's own particular front U-joint (Green in pic)? That's what you want ain't it, you'll play hell greasing that small U-joint inside the cross in those yokes. Might take that to auto parts place and measure & cross ref to another if just looking for a spare. Maybe check with MT too. Once all measured up, might check online in Spicer or Neapco catalogs.

I'm carrying the old one with me alone with the yokes. Once I get the right ones I will post the part numbers I used. I don't know if the goldwing up dated front u joint will be the same as mine. I know the front and rear has the same size caps.

I have checked with MT and they want $150 for the u joint and will have to be gotten thru a dealer.

To expand a little bit & "explain further".. MT will ONLY sell a complete front u-joint assembly & won't provide only the cross.

Often times when the cross starts to go out there's a heat factor on the knuckles too. If the knuckles are the least bit out of spec & you only replace the cross you'll have a follow up joint or cross failure in a fairly short period of time. This is why MT won't provide only the cross or info for replacement (liability reasons).

With that being said, just about any driveline shop worth their weight should be able to cross reference the joint to source a new one & check the crosses for signs of wear or being out of spec without too much trouble.

It had just a little bad feel in one of the caps. Whoever put this together didn't do a good job. I had to dress it up some. Not a easy task to get it apart. Had no problem with the other end.
