Use a volt meter on the battery and see if it goes below 10.5 volts when cranking, if it does, replace the battery. For some odd reasons, the battery in a Goldwing is the source of many problems. Keep us posted.
if goldwings are anything like a Valkyrie, which I assume it should be. make sure the battery is fully charged. a weak battery will turn the engine over fine, but doesn't have anything left to give to the coils to fire the plugs. try jump starting it from a ( non Running Car.) which means, hook the jumper cables to the car battery but do not start the car engine. if your bike fires right up. then I'd say you have a weak battery.
if you installed a new battery did you fully charge it before installing it, a trickle charger will not fully charge a battery, only maintain a fully charged one.
If your in doubt of the battery age, start fresh with a new one as cheep insurance. JMOpinion.
Just a note as I have jap 2 wheelers that will crank over but will not start unless the kick stand is up and brake is applied.
Possibly dumb question but have to ask.
Did anyone check the condition off the negative battery cable??
Mine was a little loose and slightly corroded under the plastic/rubber cover. Changed it and all my starting problems disappeared.
