Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

I am wanting a cover for my trike when traveling so it needs to be for outside use. I have looked online at Nelson Rigg, Covermax and the Harley Davidson covers. Anyone have any of these covers?

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

Just get the HD out door cover. It is what I have and it works fine.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

I have one called Ultragard Deluxe Trike Cover which looks a lot like like a lot of others. Bought it on Amazon.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

Get one that is very light if you are going to put it on a trike that is dirty and has road grime on it. Just not a good idea but if it's going to be in a motel parking lot better to cover it and park it by the office. Good luck.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

We have an older Ultraguard cover for the GL1800 that came with our last trike, a 1500. Fits well, is still waterproof, but looks like it it has been through the mill. Looks worn, stained and ragged. Nobody gives it a second look because of its condition. I have seen folks lift up the HD cover on my buddies Triglide to take a peek at his trike, nobody gives mine a second look, and that is the way I prefer it. I'll get a generic brand cover (Nelson Rigg, Ultraguard, etc.) over an official manufacturer cover when it comes time to get a new one.

Yes on the old cover. I have an enclosed trailer that I use for the trike and I was going to get one of those nice big Harley Davidson decal's to put on it. Was talking to a friend and he said he would not advertise where his bike is when he's not around. Made a lot of sense to me so I have a plain white Feather lite trailer.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

We have the HD cover for parking out side hotel when traveling. It is a nice cover well displayed and keeps the trike dry for the most part. I has vents, but if there is no wind, and cooler out side temps at night it can create some condensation on the inside. Just a towel to the seat and all is good. The HD cover has nice soft backing where needed to prevent scratching so be sure to look for that when looking at after market. Not all have soft backing and a bit of wind can do some real damage to wind shield, or paint. I do have alarm for the cover that works. Even I as the owner set it off many times trying to take the cover off.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

That soft backed cover is good until it gets grit in it. That will also be a heavy cover. The alarm is very nice. I have never heard of an alarm on a cover. You can get one of them that is ultra lite (feels like nylon) and slick as heck.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

I've been using the HD cover on my TG for years. Trike is parked outdoors all year. Not bad cover except in really high winds. So I clamp it down with a bungy cord around front wheel from brake disc to brake disc.

I love the HD cover. It has a soft cotton type material sewn on the underside for the windshield area. It also has a heat proof lining on rear at the bottom for the exhaust area. A little pricey but high quality IMO. I'm sure you could hide the HD graphic with flat black if it;s not wanted.

Ride safe!:pepper:

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

I can assure you that anyone looking to peek under the cover or looking to aquire a new ride will not pass up that chance just because there is not an HD on the cover. A TG sitting there with a cover on it does not camofluage into everything else around it. It is very obvious what it is. HD also has one without an HD on it. I also did not put any HD graphics on my enclosed trailer because that is a great ad blurting out what is in there. Covers are a different story. " Hmmmm... What could that be under there,,, I sure am stumped!!!" Sure you are.

The HD cover does come with a stuff sack to jam it into when not in use and takes up a minimal amount of room in the trunk. Or in Bozo's case, where ever you can bungie cord it to fit!!

Wife and I don't use them. Take up valuable space on long trips, and by the first stop the trikes are dirty anyway. We treat the scoots like our cars. They get cleaned regularly, but on trips they will get dirty and we won't stop daily at a car wash. Never had a problem at a Motel, except lookie-loos who are curious about a couple of old gray haired cripples on motorcycles. Few years ago at the Grand Canyon my wife was mobbed by a bus load of Asian tourists. All wanted a picture standing next to the "Lady Hells Angle"

I take mine along on long trips but will confess to rarely using it. Just take the GPS off, put on the locks, lock it up and go to bed. Never wash it while on the road,, that is waste of time. Never had a problem with out a cover. I do put it on if it is going to get rained on though.

Nelson Riggs with 40 " zipper up the back. Use it seldom. Fits the DFT Goldwing like a glove. I FOLD it with flees inside still clean. Fits in its little protective bag that is only 10" sq 3" thick.

I have the H-D full cover and the 1/2 cover that I carry and use in the Motel parking lots. I am extremely happy with both covers and what I use them for. :pepper:

ThumbUp I don't fiddle with a cover either when I'm on trips, I might clean the bugs off the windshield before I call it a night. Only time mine get covered is when they are sitting in the garage for long periods so they don't get dusty.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

Went to the Harley site today to search more about their all black cover for the trike. Funny, they don't have the cover showing that it would fit the 14 trike? Gotta be wrong I can't think of anything different on any of the trikes from 09 thru 14 that would make any difference covering them up.
Does the HD cover have any grommets that would allow me to run a cable lock through them to keep the cover from being stolen?

The Black Harley cover (#93100027) fits the 14 trike. It is on my trike now fits good easy on & off. It does not have any grommets in it.

Re: Need outdoor cover for trike any suggestions or warnings?

I agree with Screwball as they do take up to much room in my trunk, need the space for more important things. you cannot ride in Florida without killing a couple thousand bugs and trying to keep your ride perfectly clean on a trip is almost impossible so a cover does no good at all. in fact leaving it off is better because the dew on the trike in the morning makes for wiping the bugs off a lot easier. i also agree with the reply that a HD cover or a cover from another manufacturer will not stop a thief if they want to try to steal it, cannot stand thieves. i lock the ignition and put the front wheel disc brake lock on the bike when i stay overnight, not a perfect system but better than nothing, my 45 auto will make up the difference.

I m with you . I had a cheep one from the walmartz when it was an ultra . it gained a little weight and the cover don't fit no more. I looked and all the trike covers are pretty expensive to just be used for a dust cover in the garage. I had an old car cover . sweet talked the wife into using that sewing machine I bought her and made a cover from it. Its not pretty but it keeps the saw dust off.
