Need lift help.

I puchased a lift ( http://www.harborfreight.com/1500-lb-lightweight-aluminum-motorcycle-lift-60636.html ) and need some help. I have a '96 GL1500A with Motor Trike conversion and can't seem to find a reliable lifting point. I tried from the right side toward rear tires but there doesn't seem to be anything frame wise to anchor to. Move the lift forward and the front raises but the rear doesn't leave the ground. I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

When I use my similar jack. I have to 1st use my platform lift or my bottle jack lift under the left or right side of the rear frame.
Lift the corner up enough to then slide it under the rear frame at the place where the trailer connection is.
Or under the rear pumpkin.
The lift itself is too high and the clearances are too low to just slide the motor cycle lift under mine on its own anywhere.
Never trust the jack itself to hold up the trike.
Jack stands someplace are needed on each side.
Ive had my trike fall off the motorcycle lift by its self.:AGGHH:

First, I would not trust any thing from Harbor Freight(Horrible Fright!). Long story but I nearly lost my Wide Glide when my HF lift colapsed!!!!
Having said that, when lifting any trike w/a lift similar to yours, the rear needs to be place on jack stands and then the front may be lifted.
Hopefully the center stand was left on the bike when triked. The hinge area of the center stand is where one of the "rails" of the lift should be placed. I would also place a jack stand w/a slat of wood on it, under the front of the engine. Never trust a jack, especially if HF!!!!
This, of course, is just my opinion. YMMV!

You trying to lift the front or back? I would not try and lift the whole trike with that Harbor Freight jack as they are not all that stable.

Trying to lift the whole trike with the intention of setting it on some home built platforms. I don't trust this type lift *not* to use additional support.

Ideally, I'd like to minimally own one of these http://www.jsjacks.com/trike-lift/trike-lift/ , but since I don't live in an ideal environment, I have to make do with the resources available to me.

Before I got my two post 10,000 lift I would roll a floor tack under the pumpkin. Jack the rear end up and put some stiff arms under the rear tie down points then jack the front end up under the engine.

Now I just lift it like any other vehicle.
