Need help in choosing front tire

I would like to replace my front tire prior to my bike being triked and would like to know which size and brand 16 inch tire to go with. I am looking for good handling and long wear. I have heard about the Pilot Activ, but it is not available in 16 inch. I have a 2003 FLHT, solid color, carburator and going with Hannigan. Am currently running Elite 3 front and rear.

Whizzer, MPA doesn't fit the Harleys, but a good rear motorcycle tire in the same size as your front tire (not a radial) should do the job for you. I know several use a Dunlop rear tire.

I have simply always ran the stock tire that was on the 2-wheeler before it was kitted. I actually think I got better mileage out of the front tire in triked fashion that I did in 2-wheeler dress. I know I got "as good as" 2-wheeler front tire mileage.

i run a dunlop rear tire that it the same size as the normal front. over 10k and still looks new

Two Harley trikes since 06, 135,000 miles. I got tired (no pun intended) of getting six to nine thousand out of the Dunlops and changed to Avon SM II rear tire. Have been through four now and getting between 20,000 and 22,000 on them. Not expensive and excellent ride.

Must be the difference in trikes or riding style...really it could be. I have been getting 20,000 plus on the stock 2-wheeler Dunlop front tire ever since I have been "triking".

I agree, trike and riding style have a lot to do with milage. My first was a Dynaglide with Lehman conversion, small front tire, this is where I was getting six to eight thousand on Dunlaps. Also rode a lot of twisties. Bought 2011 Tri Glide one year ago today, 31,000 miles. The first Dunlop was nearly bare at 10,000 miles and I was leaving on cross country ride so replaced it before I left. Next Dunlop made 13,000 miles ,practically all highway. I have over 7,000 on the Avon and just wore the nipples off, tire looks brand new. Because the Avon is a rear tire it has amuch flatter profile which I think works better on a trike. It is a tubed tire but I have had no trouble from them. Will post when this one wears out.

First one i've tried on the Tri Glide.

Sounds like I will be using a rear tire on the front and running it backwards. Now, which size should I go with? My choice is either a MT90B16 or a MU85B16.

Whizzer, I am trying to decide which size to use also. I'm leaning toward the MU85 rear tire. The web site for Dunlop says it is .3 inches wider and .4inches taller. I think it will work. Don't know if it has been tried before by anyone.

I got almost 10k on my Dunlop MU85B16 with out much sign of wear. It is rotating reverse

See above. No problem with the fit.
