Need advise on ext fuel tank 93 GL1500 CSC

I'm thinking about adding a external fuel tank to my 93 GL1500 CSC trike and was looking for advise from you all. How much does it cost and where do I get it and how hard is it to do your self. Mechanically I'm very capable and have all right tools. If any body has one laying around I would be interested in it also or sales them. Thank for all or any help guys on this one. Here is a pic of my trike.

I think the CSC trike kit is location specific and shape specific for the aux.fuel tank and have to be installed prior to trike body along with filler location and fuel line routing.
A member on here did install a aux.fuel tank after trike was built,however did remove the body to do so.Don't remember just what kit he had or aux.tank used.
You might do a search here that could be helpful.
I don't find my trike using much more fuel than when it was a 2-wheeler so the fuel stops are about the same.Don't have aux.tank.

I don't think that I'll ever need an aux tank. I am ready for a stretch break after 2-3 hours of riding anyway. So, might as well fill the tank at the same time.

Unless you are living in an area where stations are few and far between the hassle of adding one probably outweighs the benefits.

I'm of the same opinion. I'm ready for a break after a few hours and that should always work out to be a fuel stop as well. As much as I'd like to have the extra tank, for me it would also mean having to treat and deal with the extra gas if the trike wasn't used enough. For me to add the aux tank now it would cost approximately $1,000.00. I already priced it. $500.00 for the tank and associated equipment and another $500.00 for the installation. Not really worth it for me.

47,000 on a '93......barely broken in as far as I am concerned. $14,900 doesn't sound TOO bad depending on condition and what extras come with it.

As far as the availability of parts??....Well, parts are still readily available for a 1977 GL1000 so I would imagine that they will still be available for a '93.....

I can only say I love it and ride it every chance I get. You can not beat Honda Gold Wings then you trike it which makes it even more fun to ride. Ask to see maintenance records to see if it was taken care of.

If you have a trailer a cheaper option would be to get a small, 2 gallon, gas can and strap it on to the tongue. About 3/4 full to keep it from sloshing around too badly.

I cannot recall when I have ever been in a situation where I would need to have more than the fuel available on the bike. Just make sure you plan ahead.

I will put that in my notebook. Powersports Plus in Albany has made me a very unhappy camper even tho they are 45 miles from the home abode.

I'm one of those riders who combines a road break with a gas stop. This usually happens around the 120 mile (2 hours) mark so running short on fuel has never been a problem. However, I'm going to do another cross-country trip during the upcoming summer and I know pulling a pop-up is going to affect my MPG. And this time I'll be going off the beaten path so I have concerns of distance between fuel stops.

Actually, it appears from their web site that these are gas cans designed for heavy abuse and still hold fuel without leaking. Which a standard plastic one would eventually do after a lot of banging around.

Still, they ARE rather proud of them aren't they?
