2015 Long Trip Planned need advise

I am planning on a long trip next year From Louisiana to Sturgis South Dakota for the 75th Sturgis rally stay there 10 days. When I leave there I am cutting across to Oregon then head south thru California then across the south back to Louisiana. I have ordered a 2015 Honda Goldwing 40th Anniversary edition which I will ship to Coachrice Trikes and have a Hannigan trike kit installed and a matching trailer looking forward to it. Does anyone have any suggestion as what to pack as far as tools and things to keep me out of trouble or items to make the trip a lot more enjoyable

Congratulations on the new ride. Lot of theories on the question you asked. I take as little as possible. If you plan to camp it takes more stuff. You can always wash clothes, or buy what you may need. Sounds like a good trip. Most of all have fun. RIDE SAFE

Made that trip from Lake Charles, LA to Sturgis and then on west etc. back in 2007. You can get carried away pretty easily carrying a lot of "stuff" for the what ifs that might happen, but the Wing is a pretty darn reliable machine.
We carry rain suits (we use Frog Toggs), a 12V air compressor and a good tire plug kit. Also, a Philips head screwdriver, 6mm allen wrench to be able to get the seat off if need be. I think I have a good first aid kit in there and maybe a spare headlight bulb and some spare fuses. That's about it.
On a brand new machine like that, I'd double-check wheel lug nut torque and try to get a some local run time on it before heading out on a real long run like that. The Hannigan is an excellent conversion and hopefully gets done right for ya without any issues.

That pretty well covers everything. Have a fun safe trip.
I've done it a couple of times but not Louisiana. But I have ridden from LA to DC a few times so I do know a bit about long distance riding.
Depending on the time you have to make the trip it's more fun if you stay off the interstates. Back roads are the best roads.

I've done Los Angeles to Vancouver BC a couple of times. First time loaded her down with every conceivable tool known to man:laugh:Then realized I wasn't gonna be able to do much on the side of the road. Nxt trip consisted of tire care / compressor, electrical fix-it kit & a good first aid kit...& definitely what Ozark said. $64million question is: what is yr skill level???:( On a brand spanking new machine like yrs...forget it. MINIMUM is what you need. And if you are a member of GWRRA, don't forget the Gold Book. Really useful tool. Ride safe.
