Narrower gas tank?

I'm new to the Tri Glide and find myself in extreme hip pain after even a short ride. I had a 2002 Sportster with a peanut tank and a Lehman conversion that spoiled me with the narrow tank.

The new Tri Glide forces my legs at the crotch, what for me feels, uncomfortably wide, causing severe hip pain. I have researched this and found some stretching exercises that didn't seem to help. I like the Tri Glide, but wish there was a somewhat narrower gas tank available.

Any ideas?

I ride a Freewheeler so I can't help much but I can suggest you try the floorboard extenders sold by DK Custom Products. When I first got my trike my legs felt very uncomfortabe on the floorboards. I didn't have hip pain, but my knees and ankles are more comfortable being moved away from the trike.

Been there, done that!

I actually installed the extended shifter and brake levers in addition to the extended footboards from Harley. There WAS a little bit of relief once those were installed!

Thanks again Ma'am.

Not sure ...

Have you tried a different seat?

Check your dealer, many will let you test drive them on your bike

My current seat is not the problem, I don't think. The seat is relatively small compared to the width of the gas tank. My thighs are tight up against the gas tank. Of course I am relatively new to motorcycles again after a 40+ year hiatus. My first bike was a 350-4 Honda and they are reasonably narrow. Of course I too was a LOT narrower back then!

My old Sportster with the peanut tank SEEMED way more comfortable! Maybe I just need time to acclimate to the wider tank. Other than the hip pain, I love the new, to me, Tri Glide!

Some of the touring seats put you back a couple inches. Along with a tank lift kit you may find more comfort

With my 11 Tri, I rubbed the paint thin on the tank with my jeans rubbing against it ...I didn't want that to happen again on my 17 Tri....So i used DK'S floor board extenders .....That solved the problem....Maybe DK's push the floor boards out more than Harleys.....

P/S...How tall are you....?
