Mystery Motor Oil

I'm no expert but I would not use any additive in the oil since it will also effects the clutch. Unless maybe it states specifically for our type of motorcycle and I don't remember ever reading that on the bottle.

On a side note. I used it years ago on a car with of 100,000 miles on it. did an oil change added the Marvel mystery oil and I had oil pouring out of my rear engine seal.

When I ran out of Seafoam I had a bottle of MMO in the garage. Usually in the spring and fall I would put a couple of ounces occasionally in the gas tank. Bike runs just like it had Seafoam in it. Doesnt hurt anything and supposedly cleans like Seafoam. In the case of oil ,with todays oils I wouldnt worry about the need to clean out the engine. It would seem to me you could possibly do more harm than good. If it was an old barn find I would say try it.

I use Seafoam for injector cleaner and fuel line conditioner and tank cleaner to kill the effects of Ethenol destruction in our fuel systems / 1 bottle every month split between the main & auxiliary tanks seems to keep problems away and injectors when removed are clean.

Now on oil I was a believer in Rotella T6 Blue Jugs but about 18 months ago when at the Wally World I noticed that the JASO MA rating was no longer on the jugs... so I figured they had changed the formulation. Plus I was ready for a change so up to the plate stepped Mobil 1 4T Racing in 10W40 Full Synthetic sold by the quart and what a difference it made in engine noise and smoother shifting. I also decided to add a 4oz. bottle of ZDDP PLUS purchased thru Ebay in a 5 Pak which is supposed to slow down engine wear : http://zddplus.com/products/zddplus-oil-additive/ and that maybe what I have noticed with cleaner / clearer oil changes done every 8 -10,000 miles depending on use.

I suggest all 3 items as they have certainly worked for me.... as we travel larger distances we wish to maintain to the best of our ability our vehicle we rely on...

This is about Marvel Mystery Oil that I ran in race cars and dragsters in the 70's : http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com/index.php/site/mmo/

Indicated earlier I run MMO in the oil and Sta-Bil 360 Marine in the gas. Visited quite a while with the Sta-Bil people at Sturgis this past year when they presented a good facts and pictures of 360's prevention of effects caused by methanol altered fuels. Was impressed.

As far as MMO. Have used it in the fuel and oil in all of our farm and ranch equipment for better than 30 years with no major failures.....and in a lot of these vehicles we use 'drip gas' or 'white gas'. (hope there aren't any federal revenuer boys reading this)

Yes I am 100% addicted to MMO.
I use a premix of 3 oz of MMO to 1 oz of Techron every fill up. With both the GW and my Yamaha Road Star.
Does it help?? Not a clue.
Can it hurt anything?? besides my wallet NOPE.
Been doing this longer then I can remember.
I cant say a thing for the GW. But for the R*. My carb is as clean as its ever been. No deposits at all.
And my valves are...........well they still look brand new when I pulled the heads after 6 years.

On a side note. I used it years ago on a car with of 100,000 miles on it. did an oil change added the Marvel mystery oil and I had oil pouring out of my rear engine seal.

On another side note. MMO is for all intents and purposes a straight 10 weight oil. ATF fluid = MMO in my mind. Until someone can convince me otherwise. Both the same thing.
By the way if you drain the legs of your GW. OEM one side(left) clear oil. OEM other side (right) red. Guess what Ive always thought it was?
Back in the late 60s early 70s.
In every used car I bought. Id drain the oil.
Fill with ATF and run the car at idle for about 15 minutes.
Drain it and fill with motor oil run that for 50-100 miles and drain, refill. Again black as night.
You never saw the blackest crap that could come from an engine after the initial drain of ATF.
If there was a leak it was from it being a straight 10 weight, same as MMO would do.
Softens up old cruddy gaskets and out it comes at running temps.
So Im not one bit surprised by your experience.

Not really needed for the newer 1800 engine but cant hurt. For older cars and bikes and all V-Twins.
Castrol racing GTX and especially Aims Oil. Both have more ZZDP then any other oils out there.
Newer cars valve trains don't need anywhere near the protection the added ZDDP gives, that older engines do.ThumbUp

And the only thing I've used it for is cleaning oxidation off aluminum. Maybe I should give my hog a drink now and then?
