With salt still everywhere, keeping me off 21’ Tri Glide and inside, I thought it was the perfect time to edit my first year of using GoPro’s to attempt to capture the joy of riding… 2024 saw me hitting 24 states while riding 25890 miles, a new personal best for me.

Route 66 Chicago to Santa Monica and back, my 9th Sturgis Rally, Lake Superior, The Pig Trail, Talimena Scenic Drive, Natchez Trace Parkway, The Blues Trail, the Southermost Point Buoy and more…

Over 2000 individual videos edited down to my own 4 minute highlight reel.

It’s on You Tube via the link provided… I’m not looking for “clicks”, traffic, channel follows or anything more than just sharing my personal riding video with other riders… Grab a cup of coffee and if possible, watch on a tablet or stream to a TV… and turn up the volume!

Pretty proud of what I put together, so I thought I’d share with you all and hopefully, after watching it, you’ll all get fired up for the 2025 season! I know I am! Thanks for watching!

Very cool and also impressive! I have been to quite a few of those places but not all in the same year. Nice job if editing down your trips to a 4 minute video.

I would like to one day travel all of Rt 66. I was not real impressed with the Illinois parts as the route has changed through the years and it's real easy to get lost and off route as it's not clearly marked. But I have made it all the way to Springfield MO. I did briefly touch in other sections of it like in Tucumcari, NM a few years back as well as Kingman AZ but big gaps in between that need to be done.

I have enjoyed the Pig trail a few times, Talimena Scenic Drive once, Sturgis once about a week before the rally, and the full length of the Natchez Trace from just outside Nashville all the way to Natchez, MS.

The nice thing about the United States as you well know is there is no lack of destinations and you will never run out of places to go. Keep up what you've been doing and keep documenting your trips. I always enjoy watching where others have been.

Thanks Mike! Illinois actually has quite a few hidden nuggets of Route 66... agreed, sometimes challenging to find but worth it once you find em'! Happy to assist you in finding your way in the 'Flatlands" if interested...

The Route 66 journey to Santa Monica was led my the Tour Group "Windy City Tours' and they (Mike Papp, the leader of the group) did an outstanding job of locating and riding WAY more of the original Route 66 than I expected. We stayed and ate at some great 66' vintage places along the way... 8 days out, 4 days bogie'n home via Utah and Colorado (had to mow the lawn!).

I have seen quite a few different tours on the web and thought that might be a good way to do it like you mention. I have seen where some call for up to 15 days out to California, then give you the highlights for each day and a final destination for each night and have rooms booked for you. Doing a "guided" tour probably makes a lot of sense.

HIGHLY recommended, particularly riding (finding) Route 66. We averaged 275- 375 miles per day and really picked up on many of the Route highlights. There's more to see of course, but I felt we hit the major "must see's".

I like plotting my own trips, but I think I wouldn't have enjoyed this one as much if I was "finding my own way".

The tour I took included bike shipping back home, but 4 of us said we bought our bikes to ride, so I led us back home via Utah/Colorado (spectacular as well). No discount on the saved shipping, but so it goes... Hah!
