Muffler for Honda VTX 1300 Motortrike

I want to quiet down my Honda VTX 1300 motortrike. I saw a thread here that a member had a muffler shop install a regular muffler on his unit. Here is the link to the thread:

I have not been able to find a muffler shop here in Miami that is willing to mess with a motorcycle so I thought that maybe my husband and I can do it.
I have been looking at mufflers on the internet and find that there are so many choices that has totally confused me.
Can someone please make some suggestions and help me decide what muffler can be installed?
Thanks
Connie

Welcome Connie from a fellow Key Largo rider. PM Judge Judy. She has a VTX 1300/motortrike and picked up some used HD DYNA mufflers. Jimmy at Half-Breed MM 106 is installing them. She can let you know how it turns out. Where do you live? I live at MM 104 Oceanside. Ted

View attachment 4964 My wife's trike is a 1300R and we had the same problem with the loud exaust. New bike w/motortrike kit and we could not get an inspection sticker. Motortrikes exaust system consisted of a set of Samson Warlord drag pipes w/no baffles. After trial and error ( installing baffles w/fiberglass wrap ) we had a good sounding trike. That was 2007 and now in 2011 the fiberglass finally started to burn out, and because of that I spent over $300.00 at a bike shop for them to tell me that it was the backpressure causing it to run like crap. So $600.00 later after having a local muffler shop that also does custom exaust, it runs and sounds awesome. What they installed was not mufflers but s/s resonators w/ss tips. Any good shop with a pipe bending machine should ( if they need the business ) be able to make a custom exaust.

Nice looking exhaust
