Hi All, I have a 98 wing trike, I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to hook up a mp3 player to the stereo? its an original stereo, I spoke to the honda dealer ship doesnt look like there is an upgrade for it.

There is a specialty mp3 I can buy from honda, however I would like to use one of the ipods I have.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here's a link to Amazon.com for the type of connect you need or might wish to consider. Amazon.com: Scosche FM-MOD02 Universal Audio Input FM Modulator for iPod, Satellite Radio or Portable Music Player: Electronics At least it's a possibility...

We have a 1995 GL1500, tried the antenna interface with our Mp3. Connects in line on the antenna lead, cuts out the signal from the antenna so
(in theory) no signal gets to the radio. I had 3 problems - it didn't sound very good. If you use the bike speakers, most likely there will be no problem. If you use a helmet system you will be able to tell the difference between the cheap and good units. Second, it didn't always reject radio signals. Often would get interference from radio stations. 3rd, it lived under the seat, and that made it hard to change the frequency if there was a strong station in the area (see #2). Oh - it ran through the radio. Only sounded as good as the radio, the FM signal is compressed.

There are also ones that are like mini radio stations. Set the frequency of the radio and converter the same and play through the radio. Havent met anyone that tried them that was really satisfied with them.

I use a casette adapter. To me it sounds better as the cassette signal isn't compressed like the FM signal is. It also is simpler, and a lot less expensive than one of the better sounding hard wire converters.

Pics of the cassette and radio transmitter adapters below.

Now there are some I know that say the hard wire radio converter sounds better, but to me the $15 casette adapter sounds a lot better than the $45 hard wire unit that sits on the shelf in the garage.

That's my 2¢. I'll take my penny change if you please.;)

Thanks for the advice all I appreciate it, I do have one of those cassette adapters didnt really think of trying it until it was mentioned to be honest. I will try that since I already have one.

Thanks

Serria Electronics can take your radio and add a MP3 connection. Another option is find a radio from an Interstate Model 1500 it does not have the cassette but does have an aux connection.

Lunchbox is right on the interstate 1500 it does have a aux connector, theP/N#
for the aux connector is 39170-my4-870. Has anyone tried using this connector on there GW1500?

Thanks Bighank
