Installing MP3 player connector on GW1500SE

The GW interstate 1500 has an aux connector for a MP3 player, the P/N#
for the aux connector is 39170-my4-870. Has anyone tried using this connector on their GW1500SE that has a cassett player or any other GW1500 with a cassett player? If you have any other ideas????

I have an the interstate model so it was a simple fix, plug and play. I think with the cassette option you will need to have the radio opened up and some wiring done.

I think Serria Electronics will do the job for $100 or so, go to their website and check them out.

On the GL1500 without a cassette deck it has an aux in, something to plug your Walkman into back in the day. The others had the cassette player. The circuits that supported the aux plug were replaced with the cassette deck on the Aspencade and SE, no easy way to add an aux cable if electronics is so much voodoo as it is to me. As mentioned, Sierra can add a circuit to plug in an Mp3 player or phone.
Or you can add an FM modulator. They come in wireless or wired to your FM antenna, less costly than the wired up aux port. I had a wired FM adapter, but had some problem with radio stations bleeding through in the cities. Was hard to find a free frequency on the dial.
And then there is the cassette adapter. They look like a cassette with a wire that plugs into the Mp3 player. Some say they wear out the cassette deck, I never had a problem. The cassette adapter is the least expensive and the lesser quality sound. I thought for the price it was the best value. I wasn't too concerned with Hi-Fi on the bike, with wind noise, traffic, road noise and ears covered by a helmet I just wanted reasonably good sound, which I thought it was.

Also better sound takes better speakers, and the best sound is earplug headphones, then helmet speakers, then the bike speakers, even with upgraded aftermarket speakers.
