This is gonna sound a bit odd but you might empty the trunk and pour water inside to see where it comes out. Then you can use sealer to fix the issue.

PITA for sure and I can just imagine the leaking since we don't get much of that liquid sunshine here in San Angelo...

You can spray rubberized undercoating to try and seal the fiberglass.

Motortrike had a problem in the fenderwell area where the tail lights are. They had air pockets in the fiberglass that let the water in. I had this problem, I called the factory and they said this was a common problem. I ground down the defects (bubbles in the fiberglass) and cleaned the entire area then used fiberglass to repair the area. Worked very well.

To check to see where the water is coming from remove the liner in the trunk then use a garden hose to spray water around the tail light area from inside the wheel well area. you may want to remove the tires. Mine leaked from both sides.

If this is your problem you may want to call the factory, they may repair it for you under waranty. I repaired my own because the dealer in my area went out of bussiness. They did offer to repair it for me. I have an 09.

Mine was leaking around the gasket. Called MT to order a new gasket and they told me to first try Vaseline to soften up the gasket. I put a generous amount on the gasket and let it sit for a few days and then wiped the excess off and it never leaked again. MT told me to keep the seal lubricated with Vaseline on a regular basis to keep the seal soft. May not be your problem but just thought I would through it out there.

i filled trunk with water fixed the leak but didnt spray around tail lights will try that thanks

That sounds like a good practice for all trunk seals/gaskets regardless of the manufacturer! ThumbUp

My trike leaked badly!!! Not knowing where the leak was physically at i figured it was around the seal / trunk lid. So i took a 1$ bill and places it on the trunk seal and closed the lid. Then tried to remove the ! with lid closed. ( you can use just a piece of paper). Nine had several areas where the rubber and the lid just were not making good contact..... Seal felt right / soft but nothing i did seemed to really work.

Cost of that seal from kit maker was out of sight SOoooo i cut about 1 inch of the end of my seal off and took it down to a local wholesale auto upholstery shop and they sold me a length of weather stripping that was EXACTLy the same as what the kit maker used.. removed old weather strip and installed new... Took trike out of garage and hosed that area as if it were in a flood...... TRUNK dry as a bone.
Cost me about $1.50 a foot for 10 ft of weather strip where as kit maker wanted to charge $80...Most kit makers use off the shelf parts as much as possible in order to cut down on their kit costs.... So when you cant find or dont know look toward something to do with cars- truck for items like weather strip etc.... Been thru several downpors and trunk has stayed dry for 2 years

When I contacted MT, I told them that the leak appears to be in the seal. I did the paper strip test and the area on the two sides of the trunk showed that there was very poor contact. MT suggested that I pull the weather strip off of the sides of the door opening and put in a piece of regular 14 to 16 gauge wire in the groove in the seal. When the seal was reattached to the opening, the wire would force the seal out and improve the seal contact. This worked well.
