Motor Trike gearing

I have had my gl1500 with motor trike conversion for about two months now and though I am very happy with it and it runs really good with plenty of power I notice that when taking off I tend to have to slip the clutch quite a bit especially if I am trying to take off quickly. I was just wondering if anyone has ever changed the gearing in the rear end of their trike to give it a little more bottom end. I realize that I will change the RPMs on the top end and maybe give up a little in gas mileage but that's okay to get the power down in the bottom. I am not talking about a radical change just lowering the gearing a little. Opinions, advice?

If all you're wanting is a relatively small change, then I would try to do it with tire size. Go to tirerack.com and find the tire size you're running now. Then find the column on the specs page that lists diameter & how many revolution per mile. To effectively lower the gearing you need to decrease the diameter/increase the revolutions per mile. A calculator can help you figure out the difference by taking the known values in current tires and figuring what the new ones will do.
