I'm thinking seriously about purchasing this tire to replace my front tire on my 2004 Wing that I just converted last month. My front is about ready and I've read that this is a good replacement. My question is this; what type of mileage is this tire getting for you folks that run it? I've read posts on different topics where members have mentioned 20-25,000. Is this realistic for "normal riding", if there is such as thing. Always appreciate your comments.

I think I will mount it in the normal direction, not in reverse. I haven't read that mounting it in reverse really increases tire life.

I really like the BT-45. I left for Alaska in June with a BT-45 with 10,000 miles on it. I have complete confidence in it. I got back with over 22,000 miles on it. I rode it the rest of the summer. In September I put a 2012 Champion trike kit on my wing. And I also put a new BT-45 on the new trike so all the tires were new. By the way the old tire was at about 28,000 miles. There was a rider on this forum with a Gold Wing Trike with 36,000 miles on a BT-45. Millage also depends on the rider, the speed, and the roads you ride on. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry

I'm gonna guess I got 5000 on my BT45, still looks new. I haven't heard anything bad about them. I do think the "put it on in reverse" is an old wife's tale or it could of been started by two little ol tire salesmen gossiping over the back yard fence. Either way it still seems to work. Ya know it use to be that the car tire company's, when they rotated your tires they did it from left front to right rear (think rotation). Now they do it from left front to left rear. Near as I can tell only one motorcycle tire company ever said it should be put on in reverse direction and that was in a copy and paste to a forum email. I'm having normal rotation on mine and no problems.

a little off subject... when did we start rotating car tires Front R to Left R? I still do Left F to Left R and Right R to Right F Any rear tire Battlax or Pilot Activ will give you at least twice the wear of the standard tire and better handling. Must BIAS PLY

Sorry John, I wasn't a member then. I'm new to the site. Have patience with newbies

Criss cross tire rotation was the way to go and included the spare in the trunk until radials came out in about the late 60's. Then they said that the way the tire belts were wrapped in radials they'd come apart if you reversed rotation after they were accustomed to turning in the opposite direction.
As far as trikes are concerned I haven't bought the reverse rotation theory. I know they all wear good however they are mounted but have got to believe that the sipes are designed to disperse water and running them backwards goes against the design.

Here's a better way to do a search since forum search engines usually suck.

Use you google or whatever search engine you use and type in what your looking for then put in one space then :triketalk.com. Don't forget to include the :

Like this...

battery :triketalk.com

Google or other engine will then look for battery in triketalk.com.

GREAT TIP! pepper

Interesting story....After reading everyone's great comments about this tire I decided to order one. I checked a few sites and learned that Motorcycle Superstore had the best price of under $114.00 At 7:00PM on Wednesday I ordered the tire on their website. A little before 1:00PM that next day is was delivered to my residence. I couldn't believe the speed. Even if the warehouse was next door to my house, ( which I can assure you it isn't) I'm still surprised and delighted at the timeliness of the delivery....Still not sure how I will have it mounted, but I am leaned toward the normal position.

FRR, you tire installer may make that decision for you. Many refuse to mount in the reverse rotation direction for fear of liability.

My guy said he would mount it either way that I wanted him to. I just think the rain dispersion would probably be better if I mount it in the "normal " running direction. Besides, I am new to triking so I don;t have the experience that many of these folks do.

If you start out with the reverse direction and you have cupping problems, you can always switch the tire the other way. I have done this and gotten over 20k miles with a Pilot Activ. I do not know what mileage I will get now that I have Traxxion suspension and Centramatics.

Right now I have close to 5k and see little wear.
