M8 Tuners

Kevin, I've ordered a 2020 Tri-glide (non CVO) and am dickering with my dealer over the 131" HD kit. They are telling me if I do the 131, Street Cannons, S/E high-flow A/C / exhaust system, and the PV Tuner that they will cover the warranty. What I'm thinking is just that dealer - and none others.

My dealer said they won't do a 131 in a Triglide. When I asked why, he said the drive line won't line up. (But he could sell me a stage 2 kit). :Whack::dancingpoop:

I believe the reason dealers won’t do a 131 kit on a trike is that it is not certified by the epa for a trike. It costs a lot of money for the testing and certifications, which the mothership is cheaping out on. Additionally, it may cause extreme wear on the rear driveline components with all that extra torque. Just my thoughts.

Whats really stupid is the cvo trike is a 117 which is a stage 3 kit , but they say you can not do a stage 3 kit on a regular tri glide it will void your warranty ????

I believe it is the same thing with the epa bs. HD didn’t want to pay for the certification of the trikes, so if you do it there goes the warranty, if that’s a concern.

That cant be true the cvo is a 117 stage 3 it has to pass EPA ???

Now that you have had these mufflers on for awhile, do you still like them, I have a 2019 Tri also and would like to get the sound level up a bit but not obnoxious, If they are to loud I would not want them Thanks Doc

Sorry Doc, haven't been on for awhile. We have been doing some rides lately down here. My bike is actually running smoother with the different slip-ons. Maybe the Rush ones I had on before were too little back pressure, not sure. I'm guessing it is now running about the same as original. Still a deeper throatier sounding slip-on IMHO. It is running so near to perfect I'm not interested in getting a tuner now.

Thank you, When you say you lost clearance I assume ground clearance ? Thanks Doc

As per the epa agreement, anything hd sells has to meet the epa requirements. That’s why stage 3 or 4 or any stage you have to use hd parts, plus the hd tuner, as it will not allow you to adjust the motor beyond the epa specs. So all the mufflers hd sells had to be put on bikes and certified, every performance kit had to be put on each model it is meant for, tuned and checked by the epa, etc etc. that runs into a ton of cash. Any dealer that goes outside the agreement can get themselves in a lot of hot water, if caught. Hd is looking to void warranties to save money, and avoid any further penalties from the epa.

Eagle Guardian Extended Service Plan

With the recent post on a member having his warranty voided due to aftermarket add-ons, I have a question about tuners.

I assume that if you had a Screamin Eagle tuner installed it would not effect your HD factory warranty? I've got slip on mufflers and a flow thru breather now.

The reason I'm asking this is because next Monday I'm riding across the state with a buddy to a small shop. The guy has slip-on pipes that his son makes and my buddy is having them installed. We have another buddy over in that area that just had them installed for around $320 and they are the deepest, best sounding pipes I have ever heard on an M8 motor. Anyway, this shop apparently said they had a tuner for the M8 that could be installed for under $200.

As I get a little closer to my factory warranty expiring I am going to switch to Jim Palmers extended plan. I just didn't want to do it until the spring.

Would love to hear/see the pipes; upload a video when you get them done.

The Eagle Guardian Extended Service Plan (https://motorcycleagent.niftyquoter.com/proposals/1212683?t=63913ba69f45d3) is designed to provide coverage to motorcycles that have been customized with aftermarket components--tuners, air cleaners, Stage I-V kits, S&S 128" Kits, ect. Obviously these components have to be properly installed; however, this plan allows for you to make the bike/trike "yours".

It is best to enroll while the original warranty is still in force.

> $0 Deductible at ANY H-D Dealership or Independent Repair Facilities

> 24/7/365 Claims Department with Direct Payment made via Credit Card

> Administered by The United States Warranty Corporation in Ohio

> Aftermarket Component Coverage

> Wear & Tear Coverage is available

> High Mileage Limit--up to 60,000 additional miles and/or 5 Years (There is a work around to the mileage limit if you ride a lot)

> 18-Month Installment Plan Available

Clients that are looking to renew their current ESP can still utilize the Eagle Guardian Plan. The USED terms are the same--up to 5 years and an additional 60,000 miles. There are no mechanical coverage difference; the deductible is $50 vs $0 and Wear & Tear coverage is not available.

This is kind of intersting

I found this to be interesting but I already knew about other tuners voiding warranty unless you have the harley tuner and the way harley is going I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they wouldn't void your warranty even with a harley tuner, anything they can do to get out of warranty work is money ahead for them, I might be wrong but basically I don't trust harley anymore. I know I had the power vision on my 2016 triglide with a improved stock tune and I was happy with that, should have kept the tuner when I sold the trike but I let it go. I know the dealer 25 miles from me that has a trike dyno and he can work with power vision and a few other tuners from what I have been told, when I talked to him about my 2016 he said he could load a tune from power vision for $200 and I decided to buy my own and I got it from fuel moto with the improved tune and I was happy with it.

I forgot to say if going with the harley tuner it will still be lean to abide with the EPA, if going with another tuner it will have more power and it will run better because it not with the EPA, take your choice, maybe just stay stock if it runs ok for you, I know my 2018 trike runs just fine for me, when warranty it out this september I may change my mind
