Took a trip to Ky at the beginning of June when i go home i noticed that the left front rotor was burnt black.I had

smelled brakes while in heavy traffic bit the bike seemed to be running fine.So on June 5 i called for an appointment and couldnt get in until the 29th.So on the way to the dealer once again smelled brakes so pulled in the clutch and you could tell it was slowing down, pumped the front brakes a couple times then it cleared up.Rode the remaining 30 miles with out any issues. So not only is there a brake issue there is the issue with the transmission oil migration.

The tech that normally works on my bike is a man I trust and never bull****s me,so i asked him about the oil issue, and this is what he told me. HD is going try and bandaid it until they find out a solution. So I asked him what happens if my bike runs out of warranty (this Sept) and its not solved,he said they would take care of it,meaning the dealer.

So all i can do is see what happens. He did tell me that he is hearing rumors that they are working on new engine cases. So one of the vendors that does work for the company i work for does all the recalibration for the CMM inspection machines at the engine plant and I will ask him if he knows anything. He may know he may not never hurts to ask. Will keep ya posted on the brake issue and oil issue.

Good luck with both issues. The brake problem is most likely a stuck / sluggish piston(s) in the caliper not retracting promptly or fully. Should be an easy fix. The oil migration issue of course is the biggie.

With regards to warranty the way it 'should' work is that if you've reported the problem (obviously have and they've worked on it and it is documented) then H-D cannot just 'wash their hands' of you when the warranty expires. They have a legal obligation to remedy a defect that was found during the factory warranty period.

As I said this is how it 'should' work and hope it does for you. Personally I'd want the added assurance of an ESP 'just in case.' But even there I can see a potential problem if ESP learns that this problem is an ongoing unresolved issue from before their contract picks up. Not sure about this be all these folks, H-D, dealers and ESP seem to look for ways to deny coverage.

Again good luck with this and we'll be looking forward to updates.
