M8 and Love Jugs

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a 2018 Harley M8 Anniversary Trike.

I live in Tennessee and enjoy long backroad rides through the many mountains in the area. How are the twin cooled M8 engines, will it need LoveJugs to cool it down like my 2011 (103) did? I noticed that the dealer is selling and installing a lot of LoveJugs (8 this month), and all they will say is it will help keep the M8 cool. I would like some opinions on the M8 cooling and if anyone has the LoveJugs on their M8? Thanks, Steve

Congratulations on your new ride!

HD has done a better job at isolating the rider from the engine heat on the M8's. Unfortunately, the M8's have a heat problem, just like the Twin Cams. They run too hot for their own good.

Mighty Might Love Jugs are a essential component to the overall strategy of having an M8 run optimally. I suggest you get them from the TrikeTalk.com forum owner Papa Zook at his site www.buylovejugs.com or call him at 346-800-7946.

I have a 2017 M8 with the love jugs (Cool Masters) and i run them all the time,I have no way currently of checking eng temps but i did a bunch of research before buying. The dealer that i got mine from had a booth set up at Ohio Bike week and they had a Road King sitting just idling and would run a tank of gas out and they used several methods of checking engine temps and it would always be in a safe temp range. But everyone has an opinion so you have to use your best judgment, but I would never have another trike without them. Some thing to keep in mind is if you want to run an oil cooler you may want to run the smaller ones because the Cool Masters interfere with the Jagg oil coolers.

Put Coolmasters on my 2017 Tri-Glide 3 months after I bought it and it has not been without Love Jugs since. I did swap them out for mighty mites to allow me to install DKs Oil Cooler.

I also have most of the recommended upgrades from their report . I have now put over 26000 miles on it and it is running great.

We did a 2800 mile ride in July where temps reached 100 degrees for at least 2 days and stayed in the mid to high 90s for the rest and we stayed comfortable on it even then.
