lower trunk handle

I'm thinking of adding a chome 7" handle to the lower trunk of the trike. The reason is, is that sometimes the trunk comes open while going down the road, I was thinking that w/a handle it would be an easy to check the latch (give a pull) before riding.
I'm concerned that it might crack the fiberglass; any comments or suggestions?

I would check the adjustment of the latches that hold the trunk closed. I have never had this problem and I am not sure the handle would really help it. Seems to me if u pull on the handle too many times it would sooner or later crack the trunk???
Good Luck

Are the Latches on your Trunk the kind that rotate a Metal Lever on the backside of the Trunk Lip? If so, Crazy Glue a Thin Piece of Rubber to each (like cutouts from an old Tire Tube or find something comprable at a Home Depot or Lowes (non-skids for furniture legs)...this will give enough grip to the lever to prevent slippage and won't crack your Fiberglass. I had a similar problem with Aftermarket Hard Bags and this ended the problem.
