Low speed vibration.

Just put on a Michelin Pilot Activ rear tire on the front in reverse and new front brake pads now I have a low speed vibration in the hand grips. Has anyone experienced this? If what should I try?

Hi, If you didn't have any wobble before This might not be the fix but, Ihad it on my 08 trike and my steering head bearing needed replaced. Put in AllBall Tapered Steel Bearrings problem solved. At least have the head bearing checked..Hope this helps

I put this tire on the front of my 08 roadliner (2 wheeler) and have a vibration from 27 to34 mph ,it feels more like a hum than vibration to me. There has been discussion of this on the roadliner/stratolliner forum and most of us think it has to do with the hardness of the rubber . Keeping the pressure helps but does not eliminate it. Hope this helps !

I have the same slight hum on my 2012 Hannigan with the MPA mounted in reverse, it goes away at higher speed so I don't think much about it anymore.

I put the Pilot on my 08 Roadsmith this past summer and immediately noticed the Buzz. Since then I have replaced front wheel bearings, new brakes, and have had the front wheel off 3 times looking for a possible cause. Nothing found...... It first started at very low speed and is now noticeable up to about 25. But is only noticeable on very smooth, as in new pavement roads. I'm now convinced that it is the tire. With about 4000 miles, it still looks brand new.
I have friends with the same tire with no buzz. The tire handles very well and is smooth as glass once it gets rolling. I wish Michelin would at least put out a statement concerning this issue. I guess just run'em!

Take into consideration that the tire you just put on is made of a harder rubber.
There may not be anything wrong at all, just a difference caused by the tire? That was the case with my scoot when I put a rear tire on the front. I got used to it after a bit. The increased mileage has far outweighed the slight annoyance.



My tire is a Dunlop and it's the same story.

Yeah the tire seems to be wearing well and most who use it claim 20+ thousand miles and it handles well. Not all who have the tire seem to have the buzz. I guess we just live with it!

Thanks everyone for the input. What does not make sense is the vibration stays at the same frequency even at varying speed. It starts at about 12 and stops at about 33 MPH.

Eventually, it will disappear or you will get used to it. Not really sure which occurs. I've had at least 4 MPV's on the two trikes I have owned and two of them "hmmm'd" and I really don't know if it eventually stopped or if I got used to it. My suggestion, ride on!!
